I can still vividly recall when the current president of my country announce on national television that the country is full of lazy youths - and that is why the nation is full of poor people. While the shocking revelation was released to the whole nation, many people had taken to social media to give their own point of view. Believe me, them point of view wasn't funny at all. So many youths raged in anger and pour out lots of unfamiliar words out of them mouths, including insults and what happened to be curses.
Well, I am a Nigerian, and I can feel their pain now even just as I could feel it then. And at some point, their actions were completely justified to what they have heard. But instead of putting the word "lazy", the best term to fit that category should be "ignorant".
I say this because the undeniable truth is that the youth of Nigeria are not lazy. Infact, they are very much hardworking than most of the rich countries we can mention today. And no doubts that the country is a blessed nation, full of wealth, it is just a tragedy that the wealth isn't circulating the way it should. Lazy shouldn't be the word. It will be very difficult for you to come across a Nigerian youth whose source of income is from one place only. You always find them doing multiple jobs no matter how little the pay is, just to be assured of themselves they had done a great job for the day and the day isn't wasted.
Ignorance is the issue here. Many Nigerians believe so much in some things that isn't really working out for them. Some believe that hustling and hustling on a particular low pay job would grant them millions one day. Infact, it is widely believe that hard-work, as long as you keep putting into it, you will become rich. So many will come to the conclusion that, once you have obtain your certificate from the University, life is balanced for you.
When a Nigerian sees another Nigerian making money with just his laptop while sitting at home, the first and only thing that comes to the mind of that person is, "He is doing Yahoo!" Yahoo in Nigeria is what is generally known as fraudster. And so many people don't even believe there is a way you can make legit cash online. For example, I once introduced Hive to someone few days back. This person writes poems on Facebook all the time and do get up to 100 likes. I wanted him to quit wasting his time there and come gain something for his effort, as well as develop himself further on hive. And after showing him how the platform works, even going further of showing him #hive trends on Twitter. Guess what? He claimed it was scam ❌ and he blocked me!
Now, that isn't laziness. That's ignorance! So many cases like that which I have witnessed. For example, Nigeria is a country that upholds religion so much. And for this reason, you find many hard-working youths who are religious believing that as a Christian, you have to be a complete fool. Infact, they have demonstrated that being a christian means you must be poor. Yes, they won't admit it but this is the mentality and the demonstration they have showed over the years. For instance, many Christians will condemn crypto currency because they believe it is scam and an Antichrist! I have a friend who refuse to invest in Bitcoin when it came out newly for this same reason. And he had almost all the money to invest massively in it then but he was ignorant to do so. Now, he is fuckin regretting it.
I know everyone has their fault inside this matter. The citizens, which include young and old. Even the government! And believe me, I can go on and on on this topic. But I'd rather stop here. Maybe when I start my video shooting on hive, I can treat this up properly. But before then, am out. 🏃💨
