Neuralink is perhaps one of the most sci-fi-like projects that is being developed right now. The Elon Musk-founded startup has been working on a brain implant that could make cyborgs a reality.
If you don't know anything about all of this, well, you should! If and when this becomes a reality, our world is going to change in ways that we can't even imagine right now.
For comparison, think about the difference between life before the internet and after it. Now, multiply that difference by 100. That's how much difference such a brain implant could make in my opinion.
Elon has been teasing the reveal of a working Neuralink implant this Friday and people are speculating all sorts of things that may be announced.
Birth of the Cyborg?
Earlier this year, Musk had stated that by the end of 2020, Neuralink could plant their device for the first time in a human. Now, many people are expecting this to be revealed on Friday.
In fact, the company has released an image of a woman that is shown with a small white device fixed behind her ear. Could this be a hint that they are actually going to start human trials?
From the information that is publicly available, it doesn't seem likely. However, you never know how far they could have come along in their development. May be they are ready after all for human trials.
If Musk's claims come true, the brain implant will significantly improve the cognitive abilities of humans. In the next 5-10 years, if Musk is able to deliver on his promises, we could all become super-geniuses and gain superhuman capabilities like enhanced vision, hearing, ultra-fast learning, and more!
