The high seas are quite the adventurous ride. Especially, when you are crossing the Drake Passage and a storm decides to pass through. Typically, this can result in 5-8metre waves that will make sleeping somewhat difficult. It is not uncommon that you indeed wake up on the floor after being rolled out of bed. Walking around the ship also has its difficulties and potential risks. However, a couple of days into conditions usually allows you time to discover your "sea legs".
I am kind of lucky though, I very rarely feel sea sick in these types of conditions. However, I do see and feel for those though that do experience sea sickness. Even a few of my colleagues suffer from sea sickness every crossing we undertake. Sadly, there isn't really anything you can do to help them other than provide some decent medication and sympathy for their nauseas discomfort.
At times when I do experience high seas at a more adventurous level I attempt to get above the bridge in hopes of taking photos similar to that below. The bow of the ship crashing through a 7 metre wave half way across the Drake Passage.
