El pepito en Barquisimeto, más que una comida rápida ya es un simbolo cultural de mi ciudad, es por esto que les traigo este post para que lo conozcan.
The pepito in Barquisimeto, more than a fast food is already a cultural symbol of my city, that is why I bring you this post so that you know it.
El pepito consiste en una pieza de pan relleno con carne o pollo picado en cuadritos, pueden ser los dos juntos y a ese le llamamos "pepito mixto", con queso espolvoreado y salsas a base de mayonesa como por ejemplo, salsa de tocineta, queso, maíz, de ajo, tartara y también kétchup. Se puede acompañar con papas fritas.
También esta el pepito gratinado, este tiene los mismos ingredientes pero el queso se derrite y también le pueden agregar maíz o champiñones
En otros estados de mi país les agregan otros ingredientes pero el pepito real es tal cual lo describí anteriormente.
The pepito consists of a piece of bread stuffed with diced meat or chicken, they can be both together and we call that "mixed pepito", with sprinkled cheese and mayonnaise-based sauces such as bacon sauce, cheese, corn, garlic, tartare and also ketchup. It can be served with French fries.
There is also the gratin pepito, it has the same ingredients but the cheese melts and you can also add corn or mushrooms
In other states of my country they add other ingredients but the real pepito is just as I described it previously.
El pepito nació en los años ochenta más o menos, un señor llamado "Toño" tenia un puesto de comida rápida donde vendía hamburguesas y perros calientes. Un día estaba preparando su cena en su carrito y solo tenia esos ingredientes y uno de los clientes vio como lo preparaba y ofrecio comprarle uno igual, el señor Toño le dio ese que habia hecho para él y el cliente quedo fascinado, días después ese cliente llego con varias personas pidiendo el mismo sándwich y así fue como se creo el pepito.
