Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. The concept of SPIRITUALITY is as old as humanity. It has existed since or even before the inception of man and today it is being embraced by millions of people across the universe. Spirituality is an ideology that is not not binded by any group or institution - it has to do with the human soul. Spirituality is closely linked to religious practices, art, yoga & meditation.
Spirituality is that inner space that you've created within yourself where you create a belief system that is personal to you and more importantly it gives you a sense of calmness. Simply put, spirituality means having a personal experience in the spiritual world. It is when you connect with the world that is greater than the physical. The people who are of the school of thought that there's more to the kind of life they experiences is spiritual. They belief that the events that happen in their life are predestined and they don't just unfold.
Often times, there is a misconception that religion is the only form of spirituality but it is not true. There are other ways of practicing spirituality without being a religious person. There are people who do not practice Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism etc and they are spiritual. They practice their spirituality by connecting with their inner self through the act of meditation, yoga or art. The spiritual practice of yoga and meditation have to do with shutting yourself out from the physical realm and connecting yourself with the greater realm.
Most people enroll in yoga sessions only for fitness purposes but it effect is far beyond that if it is well utilized. In yoga, the postures mean more than just stretching the muscles. Yoga integrates the innner being with the supreme being. Also, through yoga a person's emotions and mental health can be rejuvenated.
Basically, the concept of spirituality have to do with a person recognizing the fact that there is another being that is so powerful that controls the world, connects with this being and derives inner piece through the connection to this being. There are people who practice their spirituality by secluding themselves in a quiet place, it could be in their room, on a mountain, in the woods and so on, during these periods they just stay to discover their inner peace through motivations and the likes.
There are days when i wake up in the morning, I would just sit quietly by my window for some minute, watching the day break out and bask in the early morning stillness. These simple acts is my way of connecting to the supernatural, grateful for the day and hoping to the get the best out of it.
Spirituality is not about following strict rules and practices that are governed by some people or institutions. It's a personal experience.
