In taking a literal bullet for someone, I've often thought about how that might not be my first call of action if it was a spontaneous moment. My natural reflex is to deflect from dangerous situations first before thinking of another person, because how can you help someone if you don't help yourself?
The tough decision comes when it's a matter of choice, having time to think about whether or not I would put myself on the line for another person. I definitely would do that for my niece because I do care about her a lot and she's a baby so she has such a long life ahead of her. Generally, I would do everything within my power to save a child whoever they may be.
So for those in my life way younger than I am, you're safe. If you're older, I'm sorry but you've lived quite the life, cut me some slack 😆
Don't worry, I can take bullets for you when I don't have to think about it.
If we're talking non-literal bullets on the other hand, I will take such bullets for friends, family and my lover. Heck, I'd take it for coworkers and acquaintances too because I'm usually considerate of others and don't mind taking the blow if it'd save someone from trouble.
It's hard living this way because people take advantage of people like me. Or do I say they 'think' they take advantage when it's just me having an overdose of empathy.
I'm just that stranger that would help you save face when she doesn't really have to. Trust me to take a bullet, throw my head on a train for you and maybe catch a grenade in Mars for you. You can count on me.
