The Bullet ant sting is the most painful sting that any insect can give.
It was given the name Bullet Ant because the pain of being stung by it, is equivalent to the pain of being penetrated by a bullet, which is really agonizing. It’s pain slashes and numbs at intervals for 10-24hours.

This particular ant goes by various names such as; Conga ants, Lesser giant hunting ants or the 24hour ants. Its colony contains averagely several hundreds of ants and are mostly found at the base of a tree. Bullet ants are naturally not aggressive unless they have been provoked.

The bullet ants is used in the passage ritual to manhood for young men by the Satere-mawe people in Brazil, the young are subjected to wear a glove-like basket that is filled with agitated bullet ants for 10mins, it is their belief that the pain makes them a man and also aids in enhancing their sights to catch good preys.

- Remove the ant from the body
- Apply antihistamine hydrocortisone cream.
- Put a cold compress to reduce tissue damage and swelling at the sting site. Although putting cold compress on the sting site numbs the pain, it doesn’t solve the problem.
Cómo cuidarse después de haber sido picado por las hormigas Bullet;
- Retire la hormiga del cuerpo.
- Aplicar crema de hidrocortisona antihistamínica.

When the bullet ant sting is left untreated, the pain would cease on its own after 12 - 24hours of pain, while the uncontrollable shaking goes on for a longer period of time.
