I made one of these once when I was in Hawaii. I was walking along the beach and was seeing tons of tiny little light blue pieces of plastic. The thing was, i thought the pieces of plastic were pretty cool in that they sort of matched the color of the ocean. They looked like little solidified pieces of water.
So i started picking them up as I used to do as a kid with agates when I would walk along the dirt road at the family cabin.
I decided to do this in brazil because there was a significant amount of tiny multi-colored pieces of plastic trash along the beach.
Who knows where the plasic comes from. in hawaii they were more polished and probably came all the way from asia but the pieces in brazil were more un-polished so I'm not sure where they came from.
Stuff that washes up on the beach always kind of has a mystical vibe to it. and it was funny how the ocean brought me the piece of driftwood that i tried to manifest finding after my first haul of plastic.
I dont have pictures of me actually picking up the plastic but I thought I would share this into the CLEAN PLANET community so as to maybe inspire people that they can be creative with the trash they find.
I knew this day was coming because I saw this pile of trash a few nights before:
Something about piling up mulitcolored objects into big piles and looking at them from far away is cool to me.
Here is the piece of art I made with the pieces of trash that I picked up from the beach.
The plastic spheres sit on the ledge freely and can roll or be re arranged in order. i love how i found the chess piece. this is symbolic of the Christ statue in Rio. The + pieces are also referencial to the christ and the chess piece at the bottom.
Rio is a spiritual place with lots of strong energy from the mountains that are made of quartz.
I was very stoked on how this piece turned out and It is the second one that I have ever made, inspired by the beach, and the trash that it washes up.
This piece was put together in 2 nights. the pieces of plastic were collected over 2 beach walking sessions at Flamengo Beach in Rio De Janeiro, about a week ago from writing this.
