Weekend Well Spent at the Garden
This weekend started off in the calmest way. I woke up from sleep feeling fresh, and as I looked out the window, I noticed something different. For days, it had rained non-stop, but today felt better. The sky was calm, the breeze was cold, and soft snow touched the ground here and there. The whole weather felt quiet and peaceful. Right away, my mind went to the garden, how freshy everything would look, so I decided to go and see how everything was doing.
As I walked to through, what I saw made me so happy. Everywhere looked green and beautiful. The rain truly did a good job. One of the first plants that caught my eye was my banana tree. It has started producing small fruits. They’re still tiny, but I can tell they’ll turn out well. The leaves use to look dry, buh the leaves todays were green, and the plant itself stood strong. The rain surely helped it grow well.
Next to the banana is my orange tree. It also had tiny fruits coming out. They’re still in their early stage with little seeds, but I’m excited to watch them grow. The tree is looking healthy, and its leaves are shining. I’ve been waiting patiently for the day I’ll pluck fresh oranges from it.
Right there too is my lime plant. It has grown beautifully. I planted it at the back corner, and now it has strong branches with fresh green limes growing on it, Lime is something my sister use a lot, so it feels good seeing it do well on its own. The smell of the leaves when I touched them was so refreshing.
Not far from these, my ogu (pumpkin leaves) have also done well. The leaves were so full and fresh. I didn’t even plan to harvest anything that day, but looking at them made me want to pluck some for soup. The colour of the leaves was deep green, you can tell they’ve been getting just the right amount of water from the rain.
Then there’s the moringa tree, pawpaw, some fruit and tress that are just there the way I left them, hopefully they will grow some day
And now to something special, the miracle leaf. That’s the name we call it around here. Honestly, I don’t even know the real name, but “miracle leaf” is the most recognized name in my area. People say it can cure many kinds of sicknesses, and I’ve heard so much about its health benefits, and the leaf called “hospital-is-far” leaf, meaning if you use it well, you’ll rarely visit the hospital. I just feel lucky to have it growing right here in my backyard.
Aside from all the fruits and vegetables, the flowers in my garden have also bloomed nicely. How colorful and beautiful they look,
Standing there, surrounded by all this beauty, I felt thankful, knowing that for some reasons I would soon start enjoying them, and they all made the garden look like something out of a picture.
Standing there made me feel the calmness if nature, sometimes, we don’t need to go far to enjoy nature. Just seeing your plants grow well is enough to give your heart rest.
