Hello Hivers ๐๐,
The raining season is on at the moment, farmers tends to cultivate crops according to the rainfall pattern. This is also one thing we need to calculate very well before jumping into the cultivation of crops. There are times when you do your proper Farm analysis and calculations but it seems to fail due to natural occurrence or natural changes that may occur along the line, to bring down farms as a whole. I do not dispute this but on the other hand as individual farmers we need to know exactly what we are doing. Take for instance this type of Farm is what I always love to see because it is mixed cropping and in it you can absolutely say that there are a lot of crops that are already grown up and some already rich it flowering stages showing a lot of positive signs of farming.
When you see that the particular Farm setting is given you a very good sign on good production it a very great and healthy start. When I visited this Farm it was mixed cropping of okra, maize, green vegetables of different species which are consumed when it is green as fresh as it is and it can also be processed into dried or powdered form. That is why agriculture does not stay just one place. It moves around and bring a lot of options for you if you are creative enough.
Participating in farming or agricultural mindset will enable you to think wide on how to cater for your crops and to manage them currently. There are times that seems extremely difficult for you to visit your farm don't panic at all. All what you need is to validate the date and postpone it in a short while. There is also one thing about postponing or procrastinating in agricultural mindset. You postpone for a very long period Of time you are activating a lot of predators or disaster on your farm. To attract a lot of animals that are even dangerous to attack your farm or yourself or your family members or your laborers. That is why me as a person even when I am not free to visit by make it a point of duty to visit the next day or weekends. And when I am on the farm that is no snappy it is full-time weekend on the farm. I took some pictures of the crops that we are very familiar with on the farm so that we can also be motivated through this.
- This is the okra crops. This can be a very good source of nutrients that are first class. First class in the sense that when you harvest the okra from its parents plant you prepare it either raw or you dissect the okra and had a little bit of water to make it a very good solution then drink it very early in the morning.
The okra can be intercepted with other plants and it will work out fine. The produce will be a top-notch. Only if you manage them as its supposed to be. When you are into this type of cropping system you need to get focus and reduce all negativity thought that may bring you down. Just like our own farm even when there is no water or natural rainfall we go to extreme to source for water and keep waiting as a day job so increase the production and the whole farm.
In the farm, you can see that there are some young maize coming up. That is why it is called mix cropping system. It is great when you absolutely try your best to alternate different type of crops to give out a best farm arrangement. When you want to do this you need to postpone a little bit weeks one crop at a time.
- This is what we call Eku in Yoruba language. It is also a different species of green vegetable for those that knows it it is also great in soup. The only thing you need to do is to nurse it very well and make it grow more bigger to bring out more branches. And in some cases it may bring out flowers. Then you harvest the leaves.
This type of okra species are called the dwarf species. Closely that there are traces of already harvested once and yet we have them a very small not a tall type of okra specie. This is also a very good hybrid species that most farmers can also go for because within few months it has already grow up with good and firm stem. Great Leaf formation and more production.
There are also traces of maize that are just upcoming. To identify that mix cropping system is what most farmers practice here in west African Nigeria. Even when you have a very big hectares of land it is also practicable with no negative effects unless there is mismanagement of crops.
