Hello hivers,I'd like to share my not-so-good experience of cleaning the ruminant pen and a special cattle breed called "Muturu"

Okay so we had to arrive at this enterprise so early in the morning;before 7:01am we had to be present else we would be among the latecomers and might even lose 10 marks.

We arrived on the first day ;to make easy for us to get there on time we booked a mini-bus and boarded all at once.

We were asked to clear the goat pens,then we fed them PKC and GNC mixed together;PKC means (Palm Kernel Cake) and GNC means (Groundnut cake)

We swept the pens with brooms,fetched clean water into their watering troughs,we packed all of their excteta and disposed them,after which we harvested weed using cutlass to supplement the feed of the goats

That was all i did on the first day,while others were busy at the cattle's pen cleaning.

The second day was the same routine as the first,we barely got to the enterprise before 7:00am because we had to wait for a few people before our bus could move.

We arrived,got our 10 marks and started work,i was grouped among those who were to work at the cattle's pen,the group that worked there the previous day already cleared the pens and packed it to one side,we were to move the dung and dispose it.

It was a whole lot and there were about 12 of us,we had to make use of barrels to pack the dung and dispose it.

It was a bit stressful and the odor was really unpleasant.

The third day(you already know the drill),we boarded the bus,got to school before 7:00am and started work.

This time we were taken to another pen of cattle known as Muturu;these breeds of cattle have perciliar characteristics like their body frame,they are usually very short compared to other breeds like White Fulani.

They were also popularly used for burial ceremonies and for sacrifices in the olden days;These cattle were rared intensively so we had to enter into their pens and clean them.

Fetched water and formulated their feed,their feed contain feedstuffs like wheat offal,PKC,GNC,Molasses(to increase it's palatability) etc.

Some of us were to replant grasses and legumes not too far from the pen.

Ranches always require a range which is a field that contains grasses and legumes, whether naturally or artificial sown....or in some cases improved.

Other sets of people did land clearing and weeding so that the next set of students to come to the enterprise would plant on the land

We received a lecture after all of the work done and headed home stressed but we learnt a lot , apart from that it gave us the experience (although not enough) and it made us see the cattle business in a way we've never seen it before.

Agriculture is indeed very very lucrative because it has hundreds of prospects and employment opportunities,if only youths can try to stop the mentality of only white-collar-jobs because with the right capital,right expertise and technical-know-how,right people and right equipments... agriculture is very very profitable.
