I was thinking today about the fact that I always ended up performing multiple tasks at once, and that I always thought I was good at it. However, on reflection, I realized that I was wrong. In fact, my jobs, when done multitasking, are extremely inferior.
What I realize is that I really can do multiple tasks simultaneously, but doing multiple tasks hinders me more than it really helps me. It takes me longer to finish both together than it would if I did them separately, and yet neither is as good as it would be if I had focused on one task at a time. I just can't have the level of concentration needed to perform a task to the level of excellence that it would have if I did it individually, so it always falls short of expectations.
Now think about your everyday life. You read while listening to music, read the news while listening to your teacher, and even chat on social media while working. Every time you do two tasks at once, you lose performance in both, and although you think you are saving time with this, you are still losing your performance, losing your focus, and losing quality in the final result. You, in desperation, are giving up a job well done to make up for procrastination only to have two jobs done with not so good quality. Is it really a fair exchange?
That's why I tell you: fix it, just focus on one thing at a time. If you're writing a text, don't try to chat in the meantime, or watch social media, while you're in class, don't try to access your social media, don't study watching TV or listening to music, or anything like that. Do one thing at a time, focus, and do it well.

Eu hoje estava pensando sobre o fato de que sempre acabei atuando em múltiplas tarefas de uma vez só, e que sempre pensei ser bom nisso. Porém, ao refletir bem, percebi que estou errado. Na verdade, meus trabalhos, quando feitos de forma multitarefa, são extremamente inferiores.
O que eu percebo é que eu realmente consigo fazer múltiplas tarefas simultaneamente, porém fazer múltiplas tarefas mais me atrapalha do que realmente me ajuda. Eu levo mais tempo para terminar ambas juntas do que se eu as fizesse separadamente, e ainda assim nenhuma das duas fica com a mesma qualidade que teria caso eu tivesse me concentrado em uma tarefa de cada vez. Simplesmente não consigo ter o nível de concentração necessária para realizar uma tarefa de forma que fique no nível de excelência que ela teria caso eu a fizesse de forma individual, então sempre fica abaixo das expectativas.
Agora pense em seu cotidiano. Você lê enquanto escuta música, lê as notícias enquanto ouve seu professor e até mesmo conversa nas redes sociais enquanto trabalha. Cada vez que você faz duas tarefas de uma única vez, você perde desempenho em ambas, e, embora você pense estar poupando tempo com isso, ainda assim você está perdendo seu desempenho, perdendo seu foco, e perdendo qualidade no resultado final. Você, no desespero, está abrindo mão de um trabalho bem feito para compensar a procastinação apenas para ter dois trabalhos feitos com uma qualidade não tão boa. Realmente é uma troca justa?
Por isso que eu te digo: conserte isso, foque apenas em uma coisa de cada vez. Se está escrevendo um texto, não tente conversar enquanto isso, ou ver redes sociais, enquanto estiver na aula não tente acessar suas redes sociais, não estude vendo TV ou ouvindo música, nem nada do tipo. Faça uma coisa de cada vez, se foque, e faça tudo bem feito.
