What is it like to participate in a contest that you know for sure that you will lose? That's what I'm going to do now. In fact, I will not lose anything but I will not find myself on the podium. Posting so late, that is, at the end of the time allotted for participation, I had the opportunity to see the other participants ... photos and poems, super quality! I think it will be very difficult to judge.
Whoever participates in a contest wants to win, of course, if he thinks he has the slightest chance. But if he thinks he has no chance and participates, then can it be said that he has no mind? Not to mention the brain. That's when I remembered Pierre de Coubertin, the initiator of the modern Olympic Games.
The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part.
Of course, we cannot compare it with the Olympic Games, but the principle remains the same. It is important to participate, to get involved, you will still gain something, even if only the experience.
The contest is about the sun and requires a reference to the sun by all possible means: prose, poetry, photography (favorite of most), video. Most competitors post photos. Being about the sun, the photos with sunrises and sunsets are the most spectacular, especially if they are at sea. You can't really compete with such photos, such views. An advantage for those who live near the sea or ocean, even a lake. They can "hunt" the most wonderful moments when the sun goes in or out at sea.
If you live in a city, the sun is high and if you try to photograph it during the day, it burns, makes a bright spot on the photo (of course, with some suitable filters you can take great photos but I don't have these filters). The sunrise and sunset in the city can be seen only under certain conditions, on tall buildings, or on the outskirts of the city. I can't do that now. So I will participate with a photo in which the sun is not seen directly but it's there, for sure.
How did I come to choose this photo? For lack of something else to match. We tried to photograph the sun in my yard, the sun hidden behind the clouds that gathered determined to bless us with rain.
Where there is a bright spot, the sun hides behind the clouds, rather out of concern for my eyes. A cable runs through all the photos and it doesn't do well but I can't get mad at it. That's where the internet flows. I only managed to catch the preparation for the rain, the wind that announces the coming storm.
I like the sun but I also like the clouds, the wind, and the rain. The darker part of nature and more violent.
A crack in the clouds where the light can be seen. The sun is the light. He doesn't want to show a contour, a silhouette, anything ... just light.
What would we do without this light? Nothing, we would not exist.
Thanking the sun for helping us to exist, I also show you a sunrise, caught about two years ago, when I lived in another city, on the tenth floor of a block of flats. Facing east.
If instead of the blocks there was a sea and the sun was reflected in the water, maybe I would have had a small chance.
From now on, I try to bring a song related to the subject of the sun in each post in this contest. I know that @uwelang, the one who proposes this contest to us, is primarily passionate about music and I think he will enjoy a good song. Whatever work I do, no matter how hard it is, if I listen to music while working, everything becomes much easier.
