I'm a pretty good student, and have kept a 4.0 GPA average for the last two semesters, but this one is going to be a challenge to say the least. Have you ever had a person who's been on the job a long time and is now bored? Well, we have instructors like that who've decided to "spice things up" so that life can be more interesting for them.
Maybe they've taught for decades, and get tired of teaching the same old lesson plan. So their solution? "Let's make the courses "more challenging" for the next semester. This is what we're currently dealing with right now. Mind you, many of us work, or have kids and elderly relatives to take care of at home. So the last thing we need, is more assignments.
One of the things they'll do is to require multiple answers in a single question. They say: "The test has only 10 questions." So we're like "Cool, we can handle that." Ahhh, but come test day, and we find each question needs more than one answer. Suddenly 10, turns into 50 or more! I heard one instructor in the lunchroom discussing how she was going to cut the time allotted to take the test on the already overworked students.
So of course I walked up to her and let her have it. "That is why so many people are failing your courses! You've forgotten what it was like when you were in school!" It's true. They've been out of college for so long, that they can no longer relate to what we're going through, including a global pandemic.
Just don't "Break a leg"
As far as I'm concerned, since we're paying for this education, we have every right to voice our opinion. On e of my professors likes to throw as much at you as humanly possible. One girl was failed because she got into a car accident and wasn't able to call the instructor in time due to being hospitalized. Turns out she'd broken her leg in the wreck. She had to go through an entire appeal process in order to try and resume her studies.
So, I'll stop by whenever I have some time, and am doing my best to do well in my courses. I may be tired, but I'm still carrying on. Studying and completing assignments come first, and I've always got that end game in sight. So, fellow students, I salute you! Let's go get that knowledge, and make our mark in the world!
