What happens when trouble finds you?
Cultivating healthy socialization is a staple move towards a positive life. By staying out of trouble and doing the right thing for others and yourself, you end up in the position of a giver instead of a taker. When people want to be with you since you're a bastion of light, they'll often make an effort to give back to you. This is what happens... Ideally.
In reality, being a good person often draws the attention of those who are toxic, neurotic and harmful. What happens then? Should we struggle to please them too? Should we refrain from pushing them away or even harm them back? This is a matter I've struggled with for a really long time, but I've finally reached a conclusion. One that not only works for me, but one that I think suits everyone in every scenario.
You're attacked. It doesn't matter if it's emotionally, physically or psychologically. When they lack respect for you and act in a way that it hurts you, your loved ones or even if it's just your resources, it's okay to defend yourself without considering how they might end up when you're done. You should fight back, because your life isn't less valuable than theirs. They're not in the right when they hurt you, unless you were hurting them first.
How far should you go in physical scenarios
Now that we've established that it's okay to hurt others in order to defend yourself, the question that remains is... How much is too little and how much is too much? If you don't go at least a little overboard, they'll strike again when you turn your back. If you exaggerate, there'll be social and even judicial consequences.
When judicial consequences aren't available for that situation or region, you might even have to face an act of revenge that can go as far as permanently stopping you from breathing. There might be cases when the other parties involved might not want to consider judicial consequences, simply going for you no matter what happens to them afterward.
If danger finds you in person, ideally, you want to be with people you know, so you always have someone to back you up, even if it's just to call the police while you're getting a beating. If you can defend yourself, and you really feel endangered, you should hurt them bad enough so that they can't get up and chase you, otherwise they might pull a knife or a gun.
Speaking of knives and guns, along with bones breaking, you always want to avoid an actual fight. If you do get into one, make sure it ends quickly. There's always a chance that your opponent might be crazy enough to cause you permanent damage. Don't risk it!
The goal is that you can leave without fear of retaliation. Knock out or immobilize the person and run away so you don't risk him them, say, hitting you in the back of the head or stabbing you when you try to walk away.
How far should you go in social scenarios
If someone's gratuitously being a bitch to you, and you don't think they're mentally unstable enough to attack you physically, you can socially hurt them, showing others how much of a lunatic they are. Making others aware of a toxic individual's actions forces them to increase self-awareness of their own actions, because they now understand there will be social repercussions because of whatever irresponsible actions they take.
While doing this, make sure you don't go out of line yourself, otherwise you're just as much of a lunatic as they are, and you deserve the social repercussions you'll get along with them. Heck, you might even be seeing as the only villain when you were fine to stand as low as whoever was attacking you.
How far should you go in closed systems where you can't be hurt
When dealing with a person that won't suffer any significant repercussions because of the system this aggression is enclosed in, you can go all out. This often happens in an online-only, mostly anonymous scenario, just as within a game or Discord. They do this because they think they can't be hurt, but they can. If you're smart enough and if you care enough, you'll easily crush their ego.
You might get suspended or banned for your actions, but if it makes you feel better and you don't really care if you lose access to a server or a game account, then it's totally worth it. Sure, you're crushing an immature person's feelings, but it's just something they'll have to learn to handle at some point in their life if they ever want to be happy or successful.
This is true because no one can be happy without healthy social networking, since we simply can't afford to isolate ourselves in our world. It's too dangerous to do so.
O que acontece quando o problema encontra você?
Cultivar a socialização saudável é um movimento básico em direção a uma vida positiva. Ao ficar longe de problemas e fazer a coisa certa para os outros e para si mesmo, você acaba na posição de doador em vez de tomador. Quando as pessoas querem estar com você, já que você é um bastião de luz, elas geralmente se esforçam para retribuir. Isso é o que acontece... Idealmente.
Na verdade, ser uma boa pessoa costuma chamar a atenção de quem é tóxico, neurótico e nocivo. O que acontece depois? Devemos nos esforçar para agradá-los também? Devemos nos abster de afastá-los ou mesmo prejudicá-los? Este é um assunto com o qual tenho lutado por muito tempo, mas finalmente cheguei a uma conclusão. Um que não só funciona para mim, mas que eu acho que serve para todos em todos os cenários.
Você é atacado. Não importa se é emocionalmente, fisicamente ou psicologicamente. Quando eles não têm respeito por você e agem de uma forma que machuca você, seus entes queridos ou mesmo se forem apenas seus recursos, não há problema em se defender sem considerar como eles podem acabar quando você terminar. Você deve revidar, porque sua vida não é menos valiosa que a deles. Eles não estão certos quando machucam você, a menos que você os tenha machucado primeiro.
Até onde você deve ir em cenários físicos
Agora que estabelecemos que não há problema em ferir os outros para se defender, a pergunta que fica é... Quanto é pouco e quanto é demais? Se você não exagerar um pouco, eles atacarão novamente quando você virar as costas. Se exagerar, haverá consequências sociais e até judiciais.
Quando as consequências judiciais não estão disponíveis para essa situação ou região, você pode até ter que enfrentar um ato de vingança que pode ir tão longe quanto impedi-lo de respirar permanentemente. Pode haver casos em que as outras partes envolvidas podem não querer considerar as consequências judiciais, simplesmente indo atrás de você, não importa o que aconteça com elas depois.
Se o perigo te encontrar pessoalmente, o ideal é estar com pessoas que você conhece, para ter sempre alguém para apoiá-lo, mesmo que seja só para chamar a polícia enquanto leva uma surra. Se você pode se defender e realmente se sente em perigo, deve machucá-los o suficiente para que eles não possam se levantar e persegui-lo, caso contrário, eles podem sacar uma faca ou uma arma.
Falando em facas e revólveres, e de ossos quebrados, você sempre quer evitar uma luta real. Se você entrar em uma, acabe com ela o quanto antes. Sempre há o risco de que seu oponente possa ser louco suficiente pra te causar danos permanentes. Não arrisque!
O objetivo é que vc possa sair sem que ela revide. Nocauteie ou imobilize a pessoa e saia correndo para não arriscar que ela, por exemplo, te dê uma paulada na nuca ou uma facada nas costas quando você se afastar.
Até onde você deve ir em cenários sociais
Se alguém está sendo uma vadia gratuita com você e você não acha que essa pessoa é mentalmente instável o suficiente para atacá-lo fisicamente, você pode machucá-la socialmente, mostrando aos outros o quanto ela é lunática. Tornar os outros conscientes das ações de um indivíduo tóxico os força a aumentar a autoconsciência de suas próprias ações, porque agora eles entendem que haverá repercussões sociais por causa de quaisquer ações irresponsáveis que tomem.
Ao fazer isso, certifique-se de não sair da linha, caso contrário, você é tão lunático quanto eles e merece as repercussões sociais que terá com eles. Caramba, você pode até ser visto como o único vilão quando estava bem em ficar tão baixo quanto quem estava atacando você.
Até onde você deve ir em sistemas fechados onde você não pode se machucar
Ao lidar com uma pessoa que não sofrerá grandes repercussões por causa do sistema em que está encerrada essa agressão, você pode ir com tudo. Isso geralmente acontece em um cenário exclusivamente online, principalmente anônimo, assim como em um jogo ou Discord. Eles fazem isso porque acham que não podem ser feridos, mas podem. Se você for inteligente o suficiente e se importar o suficiente, você facilmente esmagará o ego deles.
Você pode ser suspenso ou banido por suas ações, mas se isso faz você se sentir melhor e você realmente não se importa se perder o acesso a um servidor ou a uma conta de jogo, então vale totalmente a pena. Claro, você está esmagando os sentimentos de uma pessoa imatura, mas é apenas algo que ela terá que aprender a lidar em algum momento de sua vida se quiser ser feliz ou bem-sucedida.
Isso é verdade porque ninguém pode ser feliz sem uma rede social saudável, já que simplesmente não podemos nos isolar em nosso mundo. É muito perigoso fazer isso.
