In India, during the ancient time the stone art work was widely carved in the temples and forts.
Stone art belong to ancient time, however still the stone in utility and decorative article have still demand in not only in India but also all over the world.
I found these stone art on the walls of baolis or step-wells of my village, which were used to store water during ancient time.
Baolis also called vavs are manmade that were constructed to serve as underground water resources.
Baolis provide water for drinking, washing, irrigation, bathing in villages during the period of water shortages in seasonal fluctuations.
More commonly they are seen in western part of India.
If we take about the oldest art form in India then prehistoric rock art
It i said that stone art come into light in India during the administration of Maurya Dynasty.
Have you ever seen Brihdeswara temple of India?
This temple is great example of sone art and build at the peak of evolution of stone sculptures.
In India the famous place for stone craving is Odisha.
Badami cave temples is in India are famous for its stome carving and they are complex of four majestic temples in the northern part of Karnataka.
Sometimes I wonder how much hard work is required to make such art on stone and how talented those people were.
We all much appreciated the everything that history taught us as we also known old is gold.
In this time it's nearly difficult to make temple out of stone as a great hard work is required to do so.
