A comet seen with the naked eye

Comets evaporate their ice and produce explosions with which their brightness can vary enormously. This particular comet was discovered in March 2022 through the 1.2-meter Smith telescope on Mount Palomar in the United States.

The comet's perihelion, that is, its closest approach to the sun will occur on January 12, 2023 at a distance of 166 million kilometers, the closest approach to earth will take place on February 1, 2023 at a distance of 41.2 million kilometers. kilometres.

The distance that will approach is a more than safe distance, for example, it is more than the distance that separates the earth from Venus when the two planets are at their point of closest approach, which is approximately 40 million kilometers.

To see this comet it is recommended to look for high, clear and dark places far from the city and artificial lights, and even if it is visible to the naked eye to see it well We will need binoculars or telescopes.
