When I was laid off, I was shocked for a while, but I should accept the fact. Last year, I was also unemployed. I did small business but the situation was getting worse because of the first lock down.
Today, after a year, of covid crisis, in my country the government applied a policy of the second lock down. I got a job as a teacher last year. After a year, the school can not afford to pay some of the teachers. I am the new one in the institution. I should have a big heart to accept the work termination.
I do not want to take a long time in an uncertain situation. I try to find some ways to live and survive. I have three children. The eldest child is going to go to a junior school in this year's school term. She has passed 6 years of elementary school. Now, she is going to go to 3 years of junior school.
Riding for survey
This morning, I rode myself on my motorcycle. I looked for a perfect location to start my small business that I did last year. In my free time, I was doing my business while I was working in school. Today, I decided to start a small business full time. On the way, while I lit my cigarette, I saw an old man.
A strong old man
It was a high traffic road. There were many cars, trucks, buses that passed by the road. The day was hot. It was about 01.00 PM. 01.00 PM in my country was very hot on sunny days. Today was sunny. A man with a limp lag, walked slowly on the side of the dusty road. I knew that he had walked miles. He brought some equipment. He gave service to refill matches. He refilled matches with gas so the empty matches could be used again. The price of a small match was around $0.2 . He charged for his services for $0.1.
I was not sure how many people had used his services. I stopped in front of him. I asked for his services. I gave him my match and asked him to refill it. After that, I gave him more money than his charge. He rejected it at first, but then he accepted it.
After the old man passed by , I kept quiet on my motorcycle. The day was hot with dust around us. I thought in my mind " How lucky I am". I still have income from hive blogging though I was laid off from my job. In my difficult situation, I still had brothers that helped me. I also had a very kind friend that I have never met in offline life. He was @jkr88 " Hi Joseph , hope you and your family are fine". I was physically healthy. I did not have any reasons to complain about life.
Life goes on
I trust that there will be something better tomorrow. I should find out what it is. Today, I do not have many activities. I spend most of my nights working on hive blogging. On the day, I prepare my small business again. Though, the situation is not good because of the second lock down, I should find opportunities to start my business. There are more people that are not as lucky as I am in my country. Thousands of workers are laid off too. Small businesses are hit and closed. Life must go on. I have to pick up a better future for my family. Thanks for reading! That is a little story about my life. I hope you can take some lessons and grab a better future, though the situation is not conducive like in my country.
