Is the POB Midwit Czar letting his principles get the better of him?

I don't 'do' downvoting.
It goes against my principles.
It is not based in any free market principles ( neither is hive).

Which leads me to my conundrum...

Proof of brain.

I was (bizarrely) given the title of 'midwit czar', and given some delegation to upvote good POB articles.

I take my responsibility seriously, and I've been pretty circumspect in dishing out the votes (I think so, anyway).

But now 'we have a problem, houston'.

There are midwits in the house.

They're a sneaky lot, so they are.
...I actually think one of them is an alt account for a ' hive midwit extraordinaire' , but can't say for sure. Not quite yet, anyway....the potential rewards, attracts them - like flies to shit..like the nasgul to their prey...

So I ask my fellow 'proofofbrainers' - Is my down voting weapon a good one to use, to combat the brain cancer, and keep POB midwit free?

I think it is.

Not because I believe in the principle - it goes against everything I believe to be healthy in a free market - but my principles do not change the reality that we find ourselves in today.

The nature of midwit psychology is to play the social game ,and they are better than me, at that - it's theirs specialty.

The nature of the midwit is to wear masks.

Would you like me to expose these mask through downvotes?

I have nothing against the midwits - they can be useful.

I DO have problem with not calling them out when I see them.
(you can imagine how fucking hard it is to keep quiet on hive?... the place is awash with them).

But @proofofbrain isn't hive, is it?

Proof of brain is an opportunity to thwart the midwit, to stop sycophancy, to level the playing field as much as possible.

@Proofofbrain doesn't mean 'high minded intellectual echo chamber'.

Proof of brain is active use of the brain, no matter how that's presented.

The midwit - by definition - does not do that, only offers the pretense of doing that.

I like authentic, not image.
I like independent thinking, not sycophantic arse licking.

I like real.

Proof of brain is the new opportunity to establish that environment.

Down voting the midwit is one way to do this.
By exposing the fake, and by disincentivizing any mid-wittery shenanigans.(by downvoting)

I'm an 'equal opportunity' kind of guy and being a midwit is not all encompassing position, btw.

You ain't ever gonna get a vibrant, independently minded community if you let the midwit indulge in their mid wittery games by leaving it unopposed...

And I have no problem doing the 'opposing', funnily enough.

That way, we can keep the POB community a place where - if the midwit is going to post - they'll have to think twice about tagging POB - or at least make sure that they post quality stuff ( they and do that - if they try hard enough..).

make no mistake - I will happily compromise my principles to expose the midwit - if it means keeping POB clean of midwit idiocy - as I think it's intended..
