Hands have always fascinated me. In the beginning it was because I just loved to watch pianists playing and their movements intrigued me a lot, so delicate and gentle. And then they'd reach that euphoric moment in the song and suddenly their fingers look like they could bring down a building, just by touching it softly...
Biologically speaking, human hands are natural masterpieces, and I don't believe even a little bit in the idea of intelligent design.
Nature is very strong. Our urge to survive and adapt is the reason why we have hands as optimized as we do.
At some point in the past, scientists didn't understand why we have four fingers and a thumb, for example, part of that was because the thumb is what makes most of the asymmetricality of our hands, and of course it would make more sense to just have the symmetry of five fingers that look the same and work the same way.
Well, but...that's not what Mother Nature decided and we ended up developing the opposable thumbs. They're a symbol of our capacity of using tools, which is one of the bases of human existence by now.
Writing, playing instruments, cooking, working in general...all of it.
So, other than writing a bit about this little weird fascination of mine, I decided to show you guys a photographic project I did not long ago that fits in this topic(or, should I say that what I wrote here fits my project's topic?). This is a little ode to evolution, I guess.
Aunt Patrícia, taking the cake out of the oven.
Grandma, making bread.
Grandpa, just resting.
The author, playing the piano.
My boyfriend, playing billiards.
Mom, posing for the picture.
The author, also posing for the picture.
Hey there! Thank you for your attention and vote! :)
