My Lily wants to give PIZZA to everyone who comments on this post. She is the Red Spider Lily and she loves PIZZA. Korea is filled with Lilies around this time of year.
This Lycoris radiata red magic lily is a very special sign of the coming of autumn. This flower lives in places that get heavy rains and after the rain it pops up. That's exactly what this Red Spider Lily did. Actually this particular Red Spider Lily has a spider web on it.
This flower is also called the equinox flower because it is still in bloom in late September around the equinox. This year the equinox is also the time of a full moon. It is a special moon for Koreans as it signifies the harvest moon of Chuseok.
It is that time of year Korean people will visit their families and offer food to their ancestors and visit the tombs. For my in-laws it is pretty much a solemn holiday but when I talked to my kids they said the holiday is fun and they look forward to it.
The problem is that our in-laws hometown was hit with corona real bad and the government is strongly suggesting that we do not travel there. I was thinking we would just go anyway, but my mother-in-law says don't risk it.
It looks like we will have to have the Chuseok holiday celebration another time avoiding the peak of travel.
I was hoping I could give a live report of our Chuseok holiday but instead I will make write up an article about the differences between Korean Chuseok and American Thanksgiving. I will submit the write up at @blind.submit by tomorrow night so you can look forward to reading it by Tuesday I hope.
Don't forget about the awesome initiative @blind.submit is doing for Hive writers here. I would love to see the new writers articles on the Blind Submit initiative. My Red Magic Lily tells me the article I write for Blind Submit will be very special.
Love,
