The Best compliment I ever received
Someimes it so happens we need to work, work and work, but nit a word of applause. It's just the daily routine - coming to office, completing your work and going back with not a word of praise. May be this continues even after years of hard work.
This was the same in my case, after years of dedication and hardwork as a Librarian, until the arrival of a new Principalin the year 2013. I loved my profession a lot, especialyyworking among children. I worked as a school Librarian. Initially, it was good. But later when the authorities found I had the capability to do that or do this, I was entrusted with other responsibilities besides my designated post.
After all, according to many people, Librarians are idle just sitting simply issuing books, doing nothing. The same went on for me too. But trust me, whenever the management questioned me anything it was furnished in no time, which meant I am working.
Apart from my Librarian post I was in charge of the Admission test from junior to senior level, substitution incharge, Cashier role to be played when she was on leave, imparting value education for higher classes. Though the class was once a week, I enjoyed teaching them because this was sonething different from their regular subjecs etc... the list is endless.
In 2013, a new Principal and an academician, who new the importance of books, book reading, library and finally the Librarian, was appointed. Knowing the variety of jobs I carried out, she intended not to disturb me further but to focus on books and children in the library.
I can never forget the best ever compliment I got from her in a staff meeting. She addressed me as Jack in all trades. To be honest only then did I realise the jobs I carried on, apart from my post
But I was so unlucky that I never had the privilege to work with her for long. After one year of her joining, I was supposed to leave .the country for good. When I notified this to her, she said considering my seniority I was supposed to be entrusted with a great responsibility, which was on my way after the vacation. Unfortunately, I had to leave and until now not sure what was the responsibility assigned to me.
I strongly believe everything happens for good. May be this also happened for good. I was infact happy to get a compliment jack in all trades from a person who hardly complimented someone.
Thankyou friends for your time and patience.
