Above you see a plant ----- Below is Louis-Antoine, Comte de Bougainville.
There is a connection between these two photos.
Who was this guy? Well Louis-Antoine, Comte de Bougainville was a French admiral and explorer in the late 18th century.
Also the name of the plant is Bougainvillea.
That is the connection.
The Bougainvillea flower was named after him. This plant is native to eastern South America. It grows 1 to 12 meters (3 to 39 ft) tall, scrambling over other plants. It has spiky thorns that helps it grab other plants. The flower of the plant is white, yellow, pink, magenta or red.
All this prologue is about Naxos which is full of this plant. In every corner you will a see one. Take a look.
The colors are really vivid.
I do not know why there are so many plants.
That's it for now. I'll be back with more infos and photos about Naxos.
