No one came to this world perfect. You're not supposed to be perfect. No matter how hard you try, there will always be things you could do better. Albeit , your time and energy are finite. By perceiving yourself as a work in progress, you begin to accept your inadequacies and can move toward your goal with greater self-compassion.
An individual who sees himself as a work in progress must first of be humble as a learner. An individual can learn almost any skill needed to achieve any goal set down and desired .
That being said , learning isn't going from success to success without failing. Learning is "failing repeatedly until you acquire whatever skills you need or want". It requires that you experiment so that you can receive feedback and adjust your trajectory as necessary.
You are a work in progress if you perceiving yourself as capable of changing because you can learn almost anything you want, you can always change.
You can choose to make different decisions today and improve your tomorrow. Consequently, see yourself as capable of change. You don't have to stay stuck where you are.
Many successes result from sticking to something for long enough. Yet, you may give up too soon and too often. You're not smart or talented enough or so you say. But by giving up repeatedly, you build the identity of being a quitter. Change that identity by seeing yourself as someone who never quits but someone who's a work in progress. With time the caterpillar will eventually become a butterfly.
