Here I'd like to post some mushroom pics for this week's #FungiFriday hosted by @ewkaw.
These images were captured last February. I called a friend at the time, about two days after the rain, with the idea of paying him a visit. Yeah, I had previously visited him at his home, and I recall seeing a lot of decaying wood in his backyard that had been purposefully left to be used as firewood. The rotten wood will most likely occur with an abundance of mushrooms after a few days of rain.
When I contacted him, he said he wasn't at home since he had to take his wife to a hospital outside of town for treatment. He asked what I meant to talk about, and I said that I wanted to capture some mushrooms there. "It doesn't matter," he said. "All you have to do is come over there and tell my sister that you've sought my permission."
So, once we finished talking on the phone, I went straight to his house and met his sister, who lived not far from there.
Whoa! I was welcomed by a wonderful sight when I arrived at his yard, where oyster mushrooms were still fresh, growing on the rotting logs. It's an edible oyster mushroom, but it doesn't taste as delicious as straw mushroom since the texture is a touch tough, even after it's been cooked for a long. As a result, I simply took photos without picking up.
I felt it would be unjust if I didn't express my gratitude to my friend. So as a gesture of my appreciation, I decided to set a small portion of this post's payout for him, @naisfreedom, who was struggling at the side of his wife, who was being treated in the hospital at that time.
Happy #FungiFriday! 😉
