Friday, 23rd of December 2022 [23]
It’s Friday and I almost forgot that it is Friday and more important #FungiFriday ! Early finish of the work week and traveling most of the day yesterday made me feel like I’m missing a day. Somehow I felt like it was Thursday today.
I haven’t taken any new pictures of mushrooms this week, so today will be a mixture of a few walks all gathered together from the depths of my phone’s photo album. I’m scrolling all the way to the beginning which is May 2021, when I bought this phone.
Let’s start from those pristine hedgehog mushrooms. I simply had to capture them upside down to show how clean they are underneath. There is an area in my nearby forest where these were hidden in a tiny little conifer forest inside the forest. If that makes any sense at all 😂
What I mean is that there are many baby trees all growing tightly by the tiny stream. Inside this tiny forest these hedgehogs found a perfect growing condition. There are always so many of them growing tightly together that I usually can’t stop myself from getting beaten up by tiny branches on my hunt to pick a few perfect hedgehogs.
Quite opposite to those growing in open spaces where they are much more exposed to the weather and… well, bugs. This beetle seems to enjoy itself on that hedgehog. I’m quite scared of getting this close to such big insects, but it was so shiny and blueish and I just had to capture its beauty. Who knows, maybe at some point I’ll be less scared of them 😉
Let’s move on to some other mushrooms. This one I have no idea about the name. All I wanted to do was capture those perfect gills. My mushroom obsession was already getting out of control by that point 😂
Where there is a forest there sure are trees! So many of them, that they become almost invisible… or rather undistinguishable. Until I walk past this suspect above. Talk of standing out of the crowd! He would surely get stopped at every airport or border control if he was human.
In 2021 I had a proper meltdown in the forest. That was at the time when I realised how many trees were cut by the forestry and what a mess they left behind them. I might write about it another time, once I dig up more pics from the old phone. Clearly others were also devastated as they saw the state of the forest.
Other days I’m blown away by the beauty of nature over and over again. Can there be more amazing artist than nature itself? The more I see and notice its beauty, the more open I become to see more and more of it.
I mean, look at this guy. I wouldn’t even notice it some years ago. As I squat to look at the ‘isual’ mushrooms, I see more… some look like they’ve taken away from the under water world.
I have to get really, really close to notice the beautiful detail and the perfect harmony of those tiny creatures.
And some more hedgehogs here. Those not as pristine as the ones from the mini forest, but still healthy and edible 😉 In fact I rarely find these half eaten by the worms. If anything, they somehow get munched on more in my fridge if I leave them close to other mushrooms.
Let me finish this up with a tiny amanita. I mean, no post feels completed without those bright beauties. This one seems slightly munched on already. I do wonder if insects get high after eating amanita?
