We are now in the last seventy two hours of flowering, and Harvest time Harvey decided it was time for his pre-harvest inspection.

As we can see, Harvey doesn't waste any time at all when it's that time of the day... He snuck right past me while I was turning the light power down to minimum for photoshoot time.
At this point I was saying "Harvey get out of there!"
Because this is an off-limit zone for Harvey, but he doesn't like following the rules...
He get's away with everything, so that's not a look of "please don't be mad at me", it's more of a look like "You're not chopping these plants down anytime soon are you? Please don't!"
Harvest time Harvey doesn't care about harvesting at the appropriate time, he just wants a jungle to play in, so really he's a late harvest type of kitty, but he's just gonna have to deal with it because this plant is coming down on Friday.
He did convince me to take a mini harvest... He really can't make his mind up when it comes to this. He's trying to convince me to take mini harvests so he can keep his jungle in tact but that's not gonna happen... I just needed a little smoke before I ended up having to buy more.
If I had a supply of cannabis on hand I likely would not do this because it's just not really necessary and doesn't really offer the plant any benefits at this stage of flowering. Some growers think it promotes a little plump on the upper colas, but I have my doubts because it's a shock to the plant to cut branches off. I don't doubt that a little extra plumping can/might occur, but I think it's likely minimal to the point of hardly making any difference.
In terms of this plant, it's so huge that lopping off a few branches like I just did is hardly noticeable.
The white pistil count is diminishing fast, which is great!
This tells me I'm harvesting at the sweet spot, and most of the pistils should be brown in the next seventy two hours.
These buds are maximum plumpness, and I feel confident that they are done plumping. These buds pretty much should look exactly like they do now in three days time. The only thing that will change is a little more foliage drop, and the pistils will continue turning brown.
What is not visible is the trichome degradation that is occurring. This is the reason for pushing the grow an extra ten days for this cultivar. It was evident that a sixty day harvest is just not enough and the high is too racy with not enough sedative effect. The extra ten days should make the effects a little more sedative than the previous bud.
I didn't get much purpling this round because the night time temperatures didn't get low enough. I do feel confident this cultivar can produce some lovely purps, but I just wasn't able to provide the environment necessary for this to happen. It will still be super potent bud, as the coloration is more of an aesthetic thing that enhances bag appeal over effects.
At this point we can confidently call this Crack Mack grow a success. There's virtually nothing that could mess her up at this point. These buds are ready to go and are just ripening up now.
The biggest challenge I foresee with the harvest will be hanging the buds to dry. My drying net rack isn't big enough, but I do have a clothing drying rack, and I'm thinking it would be perfect to employ use of for drying these buds.
