In today's tech-driven world, there are different skills that matter. Those skills that we can hone and it becomes a game changer for our finances.
My immediate elder brother has been pursuing one tech job abroad, and fortunately, he was called for an interview, virtually though, because it was supposed to be an online job with a mouthwatering dollar offer. But then, after passing both the first and second phases of the interview, he couldn't scale through in the final phase due to one software skill he didn't have. He was deeply hurt for losing that offer. It was an offer that would have changed his financial life for good simply by working for this company six hours daily; however, they gave him certain periods to equip himself with the right skill and try again. Currently, he is spending hugely receiving training back to back and positioning himself for a good offer.
When it comes to acquiring digital skills, permit me to say that I am still far from reality, meaning that I don't know many of these skills currently; however, this prompt says The One Digital Skill I Wish I Had—And Why It Matters. Well, I will stick to one of these skills as instructed, which is video editing. My inability to hone this skill is almost looking like it's beyond my control, and yes, it's been affecting me in different ways, and I have really wanted to learn this but still haven't.
Video editing together with photography is a skill I wish I had. Even as a content creator, I am not totally proud of the original images I use sometimes because they are simply poorly captured, not to talk about the little videos I have made so far. The videos were just as plain as anything without life in them. I saw it as an embarrassment, and that's why I quietly stopped joining vlogging on Hive. When you watch a quality video, it usually attracts you to watch more from the same author, but unfortunately I lack this skill. I remember meeting Starstrings to coach me on video editing after watching one of his amazing videos on YouTube, but the truth is that this skill looks complicated to me.
I have really tried, but maybe I haven't given it my all due to the time factor. I am always busy with many responsibilities offline, and from what Starstrings told me, a quality video can take not less than 3 hours to work on, and that's totally a whole lot of time for me to spend on videos. This is one drawback limiting me from learning this skill.
Some of you know that I am into real estate business. Now, some people who have acquired this video editing skill make a lot of quality videos for their real estate marketing, and it sure attracts views and sales rather than just sending out fliers of our lands for sale in social media. These people visit the site and make raw videos, edit them beautifully, and it becomes an added advantage to their real estate marketing and sales. I really admire all these, but then a lot of things are limiting me, including a good phone with a good camera and even a PC, which should make work a bit easier for a beginner like me.
I understand that being versatile is great. Not limiting myself to the little knowledge I have but rather extending my reach in some other things for a better result, but then, I still see this skill as a big chore. For some of you who are into video editing, what are the simple tips to achieving this skill with a phone only? Not necessarily seeking to be a professional editor yet, but something to start with.
As much as a lot of factors are limiting me, I still have interest in learning this skill because I think it matters in today's world.
