Hello, friends of the best #coffee in the world.
The other day I was sharing with you about the best combination of all, and I was referring to literature and coffee. Today I'm here to share with you something else I've discovered I like to mix with coffee.
But before I tell you, I'm going to tell you the reason for this discovery.
Like almost all of my coffee stories, here in Las Tunas, they begin at Café Real.
I confess that I didn't drink much coffee before. Back in Havana, in the city of my birth, it's usually drunk straight. They drink what's known around the world as espresso. At most, one cup a day.
At home, my mother drank a cup of espresso in the morning and a few times at night.
When I arrived here in Las Tuna, almost all invitations for meetings or just to chat were made in a café.
Almost everyone ordered espresso, and therefore I did too. However, it was my wife who first asked me, "What would you like your coffee with?"
That was the question that changed everything for me.
Since I love cooking, I'm used to mixing and experimenting with flavors, smells, and textures. So I thought it couldn't be any different with coffee.
So my first coffees were vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, or chocolate. Then I tried them with condensed milk and even once with peanuts. And this is just a sample of what I've experimented with.
Right now, I'm in a phase of adding ingredients.
What else can I mix with coffee?
I've seen in TV shows, movies, and even cartoons where they put donuts in coffee. I also did that with a short coffee here at home. My father used to do it with bread. He would dip the bread in the coffee.
I confess, I didn't like either of them. Although I don't dislike the flavor either.
Then I thought maybe it wasn't salty that needed it, but sweet. So, on the day of the previous photo, I tried it with Alicante nougat and peanut butter.
I don't recommend it with espresso, as the sweetness makes the coffee very strong and bitter. However, it's a great combination to eat with a cappuccino.
But of course, anything tastes good with a cappuccino. A good cappuccino is the perfect accompaniment to any sandwich.
However, and here comes my final recommendation: the best thing you can eat while drinking coffee is a hearty plate of hot croquettes and ketchup.
This can be for breakfast, a snack, or a midnight coffee. Incredibly, they complement each other perfectly, whether you're drinking a cappuccino, a cortadito, or an espresso.

Hola, amigos del mejor #café del mundo.
El otro día estuve compartiendo con ustedes sobre la mejor combinación de todas y me refería a la literatura y al café. Hoy vengo a compartirles sobre otra cosa he descubierto que gusta mezclar junto con el café.
Pero antes de decirle voy a comentarles el por qué de este descubrimiento.
Como casi todas mis historias con el café, aquí en Las Tunas comienzan en el Café Real.
Le confieso que antes no bebía mucho café. Allá en la Habana en Ciudad de nacimiento por lo general está tomado en café lo veían puro. Toman lo que se conoce en el mundo como café expreso. Cuando más, una taza al día.
En mi casa mi mamá bebía una taza de expreso por las mañanas y algunas pocas veces por la noche.
Al llegar aquí a las tunas casi todas las invitaciones para reuniones o simplemente a conversar se realizaban en una cafetería.
Casi todos pedían el café expreso y por lo tanto yo también. Sin embargo fue mi esposa la primera que me preguntó “¿con qué quieres el café?”.
Esa fue la pregunta que cambió todo para mí.
Como me gusta cocinar estoy acostumbrado a mezclar y experimentar con sabores olores y texturas. Por lo tanto pensé que con el café no podría ser diferente.
Así que mis primeros cafés tuvieron vainilla, canela, nuez moscada o chocolate. Luego los probé con leche condensada e incluso una vez con maní. Y esto es solo una muestra de lo que he experimentado.
En estos momentos estoy en una fase de complementos.
¿Con qué más mezclar el café?
He visto en series y películas e incluso dibujos animados que insertan donas o rosquillas dentro de café. Eso también lo hice con un café cortadito aquí en mi casa. Mi padre lo hacía con el pan. Mojaba el pan en el café.
Ninguna de las dos me gustó, se los confieso. Aunque tampoco me desagrada el sabor.
Entonces pensé que quizás no era salado lo que necesitaba sino dulce. Así que este día de la foto anterior probé con turrón alicante y con crema de maní.
Con el café expreso no se lo recomiendo ya que al ser dulce hace que el café se sienta muy fuerte y amargo. Sin embargo es una magnífica combinación para comer junto a un capuchino.
Pero claro con un capuchino cualquier cosa sabe bien. Un buen capuchino es la pareja perfecta de cualquier bocadillo.
Sin embargo y aquí viene mi recomendación final: lo mejor que pueden comer mientras toman café, es un buen platos de croquetas calientes y ketchup.
Esto puede ser tanto para desayuno como para merienda como para un café a medianoche. Increíblemente se complementan a la perfección, estés bebiendo un capuchino, un cortadito o un café expreso.
