This morning certainly didn't start with a bang. It started with a dull thud followed by a few more.
That my dear is the sound of me falling in love down the f*ing stairs.

In total honesty, I don't actually know how it happened. I was stepping down and distractedly scratching a mosquito bite on my leg and the next thing everything kinda went slow mo and then sped up like the old school VHS machines used to do when they were chewing up your favourite recording of a 90's sitcom. I knew exactly what was happening and I also knew that there was sweet bugger all I could do to put a stop to it. I *think* my heel missed the step and slid straight off of it and the next thing I knew I was on my back bashing my way down the rest of the stair case. LUCKILY it was quite close to the bottom so I only really hit two or three of them and I didn't do the whole head-over-heels topple like an acrobatic trapeze artist does but far more graciously - nope, this was just a rather boring way to fall down the stairs.
I think I hit my head on the first one because I have the worst headache and to add insult to injury, once I had composed myself onto all fours on the landing, assessing if everything still works - my daughter (whom was walking down the stairs infront of me) turns around and while rubbing my back starts lecturing me. "You see mommy? This is why you need to walk down the stairs slowly and carefully like you are always telling me to do and you mustn't itch your leg while doing it". Thanks little one. Point taken. There's nothing cuter than being tuned by an almost 5 year old.
So nothing is broken that I am aware of but I'm probably going to earn a few good bruises from that little misstep.
I lived in a house with a very steep staircase for almost two decades and managed to never fall down it, but I suppose there is a first time for everything. Note to self: maybe a house with two levels is not a good idea for someone who has butter-toes.
So now that my trapeze artist fail is out of the way for the day, I'm going to drown my sorrows with some stronger-than-usual coffee and swallow a few painkillers as well. I have a business call in an hour so this headache really needs to make itself scarce before then, I'm going to need all of my faculties about me if I want to secure this client.
By the way those little grip spots on the underside of winter socks don't do jack sh*t to help you not fall down a staircase. Just putting it out there lol.

Caffeine and painkillers for the win!
