Hello everyone! what a beautiful morning. Today I have a follow-up at the hospital. I woke up early and got ready, while we were talking quietly, so the kids don’t wake up. My husband was also ready. He smiled and said, “After your check-up, let’s go have coffee at Zus Café.” I smiled back. That made me feel happy. Zus Café is our favorite place. We both love the coffee there, plus the quiet space, and the time we spend there together. We got in the car and drove to the hospital. On the way, he held my hand and said, “Don’t worry. Everything will be okay.” I felt safe and calm beside him. At the hospital, I did my check-up. He waited for me the whole time. When I came out, I said, “It’s done!” He looked at me with love and said, “You did great. Now it’s time for coffee.” We drove to Zus Café. While walking into the coffee shop, he opened the door for me. really, my husband is a real gentleman. for more than 10 years, he has been doing it for me. and the smell of fresh coffee made me feel good. It was not too busy. Some people are busy working on their laptops.
We picked a table by the window. We always sit there. From that spot, we can see the trees and people passing by outside. I felt relaxed. I ordered my favorite drink—iced vanilla latte. My husband got his usual hot black coffee with hazelnut. I ordered a slice of burnt cheese cake, and he had he slice of strawberry cake. While waiting for our coffee, we smiled at each other. No need for big words, just being together was nice. Soon, our coffee came. And the smell was so good aroma. I took a sip of my iced latte coffee, and it was cold, sweet, and creamy, just how I like it. My husband took a sip of his hot latte coffee. He smiled and said, “Perfect.” We also started having our cake. He tried my burnt cheesecake, and I also tried the cake he ordered, the strawberry cake. It was so creamy and so a soft texture. Every bite was delicious. We ate slowly and enjoyed the moment. We talked about small things. We talked about lunch plans, the weather, and how nice the day felt. He reminded me of the first time we came to Zus Café. “You were so tired from walking from immigration, we were renewing my spouse's visa that time, but when you took your first sip of coffee, you smiled so big,” he said. We both laughed. Sometimes, we didn’t talk.
We just looked outside the window or held hands on the table. That quiet moment was full of love. I looked at him and said, “This place feels like a small home to us.” He nodded and said, “Yes, it always makes us happy.” We stayed for a while. The cake was all finished, and our drinks were almost finished as well. I looked around the café shop. And I could feel the good ambiance of the place. I took a deep breath and felt thankful for good health, for this quiet time, and for my husband. I said, “We should come here again soon.” He smiled and said, “Yes, even when there’s no reason. Just to enjoy life.” I agreed. We don’t always need special days. Even on the worst days, it will become beautiful with my husband and me. He is my comfort person. We are ready to go, and we stood up, cleaned the table, and walked outside. The sun was still shining. The wind was soft on my face. I held his arm, and he held my hand. We walked slowly to the car, feeling calm and happy. That day was not big or loud. There was no party or celebration. But it was special. It was full of small joys, hope, being healthy, holding hands, drinking coffee, and sharing cakes. Most of all, it was special because we were together. Sometimes, the simple days are the best. And that day, at Zus Café, was one of them.
