Greetings once again, dear community of Cinnamon Cup Coffee community! Hoping that you are well, I come to share this post with you, which more than a personal review, was the celebration of a long-planned reunion with 2 very special people for me and what better than sharing a cup of coffee. So join me in these lines because we visit a coffee shop this time far from the center of Caracas. Let's get started!
Our trip takes us to the Santa Monica Urbanization, Libertador Municipality in the east of Caracas. I don't usually visit the cafeterias in the east of Caracas and it's not because I don't know them since I work quite close but they don't have as much history as those in the historic center of the city. The urbanization of this part of the city began very recently, in the early 1940s along with the construction of the University City.

In this context, my Postgraduate Tutor told me about a recently opened place in this part of the city where the coffee and desserts are really outstanding, its name: Vilanova. In this way we met again after several months away since the activities at the University ended and I must say that this cafeteria has a rather avant-garde look.

Celebrating a long-awaited reunion with a cup of coffee
After so long we finally met, I must tell you that these three women are very special to me, in the center my mother of course, to the left my mentor in all these years of professional life and to the left one of my best Cell Biology students who now as a professional has been helping me with teaching at the University.

Before ordering the coffees and desserts we took a look at the sweets counter they had and wow, they had a variety of desserts! From dry pasta sweets to exquisitely decorated cakes they were already making me hungry.

Then we got to the pieces of cake, a real delight! Profiteroles, strawberry tarts with cream, tres leches and my favorite, Opera! The perfect complement to my cup of coffee.
For me the decision was made, I wanted a piece of Opera cake, my student opted for a profiterole which also looked appetizing! My tutor and my mother only opted for a cup of strong coffee, while we ordered a cappuccino to accompany the desserts.
A pleasant gathering with dessert and coffee
The first thing to arrive were the coffees and I must highlight the care they took in decorating the cappuccinos with that beautiful design, all the cups came with a mini powdered sugar to accompany the cup, an excellent detail.
Later came the profiterole and the opera that only reinforced my addiction to these sweets. A biochemist and nutritionist colleague once told me about the amount of calories these desserts had and how hard it was to burn them, but I prefer to suffer burning these calories later than to abstain from tasting this heavenly delicacy!

And so we spent the afternoon, chatting about our plans for the end of the year, whether we had plans to travel and what our goals would be for the next year. These are small moments that mean a lot because of the memories they leave and we end up treasuring. In short, this cafe gets a 7/10 for the coffee, which was good but not something that was exceptional, but where it does get a 9/10 is for the desserts, which I highly recommend.

Saludos una vez más apreciada comunidad de Cinnamon Cup Coffee community! Esperando que se encuentren bien, vengo a compartirles este post que más que una reseña particular, fue la celebración de un reencuentro largamente agendada con 2 personas muy especiales para mí y que mejor que compartiendo una taza de café. Asi que acompañame en estas lineas porque visitamos una cafeteria esta vez alejada del centro de Caracas. Comencemos!
Nuestro viaje nos lleva a la Urbanización Santa Mónica, Municipio Libertador al este de Caracas, no suelo visitar las cafeterías al este y no es porque no las conozca ya que trabajo bastante cerca pero no tiene tanta historia como las del casco histórico de la ciudad. La urbanización de esta parte de la ciudad comenzó muy reciente, a principios de 1940 junto con la construcción de la Ciudad universitaria.

En este contexto mi Tutora de Postgrado me comentó de un sitio en esta parte de la ciudad recientemente inaugurado donde el café y los postres son realmente destacables, su nombre: Vilanova. De esta manera nos reencontrábamos luego de varios meses alejados, desde que terminaron las actividades en la Universidad y debo decir que tiene un aspecto bastante vanguardista esta cafetería.

Celebrando un reencuentro largamente esperado con una taza de café
Luego de tanto tiempo finalmente nos encontramos, debo decirles que estas tres mujeres son muy especiales para mi, en el centro mi madre por supuesto, a la izquierda mi mentora en todos estos años de vida profesional y a la izquierda una de mis mejores estudiantes de Biología Celular y que ahora ya profesional me ha estado ayudando con la docencia en la Universidad.

Antes de pedir los cafés y postres dimos una vuelta por el mostrador de dulces que tenían y vaya que tenían variedad de postres! Desde dulces de pasta seca hasta tortas exquisitamente adornadas ya me estaban abriendo el apetito.

Luego llegamos a las rebanadas de pastel, una verdadera delicia! Profiteroles, tartas de fresa con crema, dulce tres leches y mi favorita, Opera! El complemento perfecto para mi taza de café.
Para mi la decisión estaba tomada, quería un trozo de pastel de Opera, mi estudiante optó por un profiterol que también lucia apetitoso! Mi tutora y mi madre solo optaron por una taza de café bien cargado, mientras que nosotros pedimos un capuchino para acompañar los postres.
Una amena tertulia con postre y café
Lo primero en llegar fueron los cafés y debo destacar el cuidado que tuvieron al adornar los capuchinos con ese hermoso diseño, todas las tazas venían con una mini polvorosa para acompañar la taza, un detalle excelente.
Posteriormente llegó el profiterol y la ópera que lo único que reforzaron fue mi adicción por estos dulces. Una colega bioquímica y nutricionista me habló una vez sobre la cantidad de calorías que que estos postres tenían y lo que costaba quemarlas, pero prefiero sufrir quemando después estas calorías que abstenerme de degustar este manjar celestial!

Y así pasamos la tarde, charlando sobre nuestros planes para finales de año, si teníamos planes para viajar y cuáles serían nuestras metas para el próximo año. Son pequeños momentos que significan mucho por los recuerdos que dejan y terminamos atesorando. En resumen, esta cafetería se lleva un 7/10 en el café que estuvo bien, pero no fue algo tan excepcional, pero donde si se lleva un 9/10 es en los postres que sin duda los recomiendo ampliamente.
