Greetings friends who love good coffee!
Today I would like to share with you my visit to a coffee shop in Havana: Café Boulevard in Havana Cuba.
A few meters from the Capitol in Havana, we find San Rafael Boulevard, there in a corner of this promenade of commercial stores is this cafeteria like an oasis in the desert.
At this time of the year, nostalgia invades me. My husband is on a trip to Cuba and my daughter and I are still in Venezuela. It will be a few weeks but we miss him very much. Looking through the pictures, I found these photos we took on our visit to La Haba 1 year ago when he went to see us off at the airport. We walked into this cafe and it was very emotional that we were saying goodbye for a few months.
Goodbyes are very difficult but always with a good coffee is more bearable. We ordered one with milk, it is not the custom of the common Cuban to ask for this specialty but we are different, and that is how it is, we are from different countries, with similar customs but totally different and a language that seems to be the same but no, it is totally different. With all this, on June 10th, 10 years ago, we got together in a cafe in Venezuela to celebrate his birthday and we never again thought of spending a single day without each other.
This month we had to celebrate his birthday and our wedding anniversary by video call. But with the same love and affection as if we were in the same country.
In this cafe we found a homey atmosphere. In the background a radio with Cuban music was playing. When we finished our coffees and our daughter began to cry because she was tired, we went to leave and that song began: Cómo fue, by the great master Benny Moré. Maybe it was a sign.
All those memories came to my mind when my husband dedicated that beautiful song to me when we were dating and I learned to love his culture and his country, so much that it became my second home. Those walks along the Malecon and through the streets of the different provinces we have visited.
My life with this Cuban has been a journey that I don't want it to end. I like to remember what we have lived and plan what we will live together with our little family. This coffee was unforgettable and I hope to repeat this experience soon.
