Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on where you are in the world and as a good coffee lover, you are reading this post thanks to the magic of Hive.
Yesterday I had to travel again to a neighboring city where the international airport of my country is, this is the city of La Guaira of which I had already spoken to you previously in some of my posts, because I have family that lives in that town and from time to time we visit them to spend a nice time with them, this time we did not go to visit properly, since we really traveled to say goodbye to some relatives who are leaving the country looking for better futures in Spain, I know this because I see every day how hard my parents work to be able to give me my things without having the possibility of getting ahead and without having enough money to cover everything. I told my parents that I also want to leave, but not to Europe, that does not call my attention, I prefer to go to Canada or the United States, and it is a goal that I will achieve when I finish my high school studies.
Well, since I was in this place, I could not miss the opportunity to visit an old famous coffee shop in this city that one of my cousins had recommended to me because he knows that I am a coffee lover and that I like to discover new things to share with my friends of cinnamon cup coffee.
This coffee shop, according to what I was told, is very traditional in the area, it has been open to the public for 33 years, unfortunately the owner was not there when I went, but the girls who attend are very friendly and gave me enough information to tell you a little about the history of the place. The Portuguese coffee shop, as it is popularly known, was founded by two brothers from Lisbon who came to this coastal area in search of new opportunities, initially it was just a small palm kiosk on the side of the road where they sold homemade bread, but with the passage of modernity when the large towers were built in the back and the highway that communicates with the city of Caracas, the kiosk had to be relocated to this shopping center where it currently operates, so let's start with the review.
The place
It is a medium-sized environment, but comfortable, although with few tables, if you have a large bar where people buy to go, has two coffee machines that work at full power to meet the large number of people who visit the establishment, certainly my cousin was quite right you have to wait a turn to take a coffee there.
The atmosphere is very retro, everything is or at least looks old and traditional from at least 30 years ago, but it is nice and has a great air conditioning that makes it ideal to escape from the normal heat of this part of the seafront.
The staff
The staff is very hygienic and have the proper uniform, and the service is good, even for the amount of people, it is fast, and they always serve you with a smile.
The Coffee
Here comes the most important part, where is the secret of this coffee, because it is so popular, well, the first thing is that they still have the original mill from the time of the beach kiosk where they grind the coffee by hand, the second is that these Portuguese buy several types of grain and makes a mixture to which they also add a spice that only they know, which adds flavor and smell to the drink when it comes in contact with hot water, so they did not let me take pictures of this part, but that touch of mystery, although it seems unimportant, I thought it was spectacular.
The coffee is very tasty, the truth is, it has the right point of everything and I loved the mysterious touch, although I am almost sure that they add cloves to give it that special smell, the texture was very creamy and the temperature I can also say that it was the right one to enjoy it to the fullest.
Dessert, chocolate bread
According to what I was told, although it may be just a story to attract tourists, this kind of bread dipped in chocolate is part of a typical Portuguese bread recipe brought by immigrants and adapted to their business to make this delicious dessert.
It is a soft and sweet bread, is filled with brown sugar and chocolate, is bathed with a toping also chocolate, is really delicious, has a spectacular texture and a great taste that makes you dream, in short is the ideal companion for a good coffee.
I really enjoyed this place, their coffee, and desserts are great, in fact, I tell you a secret, every time I visit this city I will surely make a stop here to have a snack and have a good time.
