Now that the weather is warming up, I've been trying out some new coffee and tea creations along with some old favorites.
The first new item was creating cold dirty chai lattes at home.
Dirty Chai Latte Definition:
A dirty chai latte is a drink that combines a traditional chai latte with a shot of espresso. It typically consists of black tea, steamed milk, and a shot of espresso, creating a blend of tea and coffee flavors. The term "dirty" refers to the espresso shot that "muddies" or "dirties" the color of the latte. - Brave search results
This came about accidentally when I made an online grocery order and thought I was ordering a box of tea bags and instead wound up with this chai tea latte mix.
While I have enjoyed Chai Tea Lattes from coffee shops, I hadn't thought about making my own at home. I looked at the instructions which said it could be consumed hot or cold with milk.
So over the last week, I've added milk, ice and the mix with a cup of strong coffee (not espresso) to a blender, added the mix to a cup of hot coffee and even a cup of cold coffee with a splash of milk. It's been a fun afternoon treat.
Is this something I would purposefully order again? Probably not. It's fine as an unexpected surprise, but nothing I would keep in a regular rotation. Although I'm not opposed to buying it again for the purpose of sharing with others.
Old Favorites
Once I got the blender out and started making cold caffeinated drinks, I immediately thought about an old favorite, iced cinnamon coffee. This is one I like to create with instant coffee instead of brewed coffee. Not sure why, but for some reason cold beverages with instant coffee just seem to taste better.
When it comes to coffee in general I'm more of a Fr. Press/Pour Over coffee drinker. I also enjoy drip coffee. The GIF below is a good example of my typical coffee making process.
So, what new coffee or tea beverages have you been making lately?
