Hello, all Cinnamon Cup Coffee members. I'm always happy to share my experiences when visiting new places, especially for coffee or tea. On this occasion, I will share my experience visiting a cafe with a Parisian taste but vintage nuance, namely Cinema Bakery.
Before I share my experience with the taste, I will tell you a few stories about Cinema Bakery. Cinema Bakery was founded in 2011, located in Yogyakarta Province. You can search for Cinema Bakery using the map on your smartphone. The owners of Cinema Bakery are a husband and wife, a wife from Indonesia and her husband from Paris. And then, they both built this place with the taste of Paris and the atmosphere of Yogyakarta.
What do I like about this place? It's the ambiance, the hours of operation, and, of course, the taste itself. But let me explain to you one by one. The atmosphere of this place is old school and vintage. You can feel the old school atmosphere because the building is made of wood and adopted from a traditional Yogyakarta house. When you see it for the first time, you will get your mind traveling back to the 80s.
Inside the building, you can see the owner still maintains the decor with wood and full glass windows. And you can also smell the wood from this place. When I first visited this place, my mind immediately wandered back to when I was little because my house when I was little was also made of wood. Cinema Bakery has two separate places. The first is a wooden building, you can view, choose and order the menu here, and the second is in the backyard, one with a roof with a view of the rice fields, and the other is a treed area with a picture of the rice fields. When I visited here, I chose to occupy a space with trees because this area is still shady.
After discussing a little about the ambiance at Cinema Bakery, next is about the operating hours of Cinema Bakery. Cinema Bakery is open from 7 am until 8 pm, so I like this place. Finding a cafe that operates from 7 am is pretty difficult at my home. I need caffeine in the morning because I can start my day happily with caffeine. And of course, it's not complete when drinking coffee without accompanied by good food. And Cinema Bakery, of course, provides delicious pastry, and their mainstay menu is croissants. I will discuss the taste of coffee and food from Cinema Bakery.
As you can see in the picture, Cinema Bakery has many variations of cakes and even salads you can find here. All the food at Cinema Bakery is fresh every day because when I visited here, some of the pastries were still being baked, and I had to wait a while to order other menus. Besides pastry, you can buy strawberry jam here. Strawberry jam here is made from fresh strawberries without using artificial ingredients. And uniquely, you can also buy lollipops.
As I mentioned, the best menu at Cinema Bakery is croissants; other menus are quiche and macarons. But I didn't order the macaron because the macaron was too sweet for me. So I ordered a croissant, quiche, ice cream, tea, and a cup of americano.
The taste of the croissant is delicious. Here I ordered a chocolate croissant because I am a fan of chocolate, so I ordered a menu with chocolate filling. The taste of the chocolate filling on the croissant is perfect for me, which doesn't like the sweet taste, and it's ideal for my coffee.
How about quiches? It's my first time eating quiche. Here I ordered beef quiche, and it was a bit heavy for me to eat beef in the morning, but it tasted good too. So if you don't want to eat something rich in the morning, this might not be for you. I recommend taking the quiche home, or you can eat it at 10 am.
The taste of the ice cream itself is standard, and it tastes like any other ice cream. So I recommend forgetting about the ice cream and ordering a cake. Strawberry jam is a must-buy because it tastes perfect. It is made from fresh strawberries that can be bought for souvenirs or consumed alone. I bought strawberry jam to go with bread and make a seasonal coffee.
The espresso machine here is very classic for me. I was accustomed to seeing modern espresso machines like Simonelli or LaMarzocco in the contemporary coffee shop. Maybe the owner wants to preserve the old-school vibes. The taste of coffee is excellent, but it is sweltering at that time of the day, making the ice on my coffee melt fast. But in the first gulp, the taste of coffee is very delicious.
About the price is not too high, the price for the croissant itself for me is low enough also for coffee. In USD, the menus here start from under $1, so it's very cheap enough. Cinema Bakery it's one of best favorite places in the morning when I visit here. Also, many cyclists come here for breakfast and drink coffee.
If you are in Yogyakarta, you can visit this place. The place is not far enough from the city center. You can see its location on the map on your smartphone. In addition to the low price, the place, and the comfortable atmosphere, the main attraction of this place is, of course, the pastry and coffee, which are delicious and served fresh every day. Thank you for stopping by to read my post.
