Hello, friends and community! It’s been a while since I last posted here, and I hope you’re all doing well, enjoying a cup of coffee. A special thanks to admin @millycf1976 for adding cinnamon to it, which makes a cup of coffee even more wonderful.
We had planned a trip to the mountains in western Norway. We will be traveling by car and have booked holiday cottages for five nights. Instead of staying in hotels, we prefer renting cottages that are surrounded by nature, and good for connecting with people from different places. During our stay, we have to prepare our breakfasts and dinners at the cottages. For lunch, we’ll likely enjoy roadside picnic tables at various stops along the way. Our car is filled with everything we need for cooking, mostly groceries. This time, we’ve booked fully furnished apartments with well-equipped kitchens. We also take two coolers to keep our food secure, but last time I had some trouble making my chai.
My husband prefers his black coffee and doesn’t have any specific requirements for how it’s prepared. However, I need my chai; if I don’t get my morning cup, I start to feel lethargic and get a heavy feeling in my head—just one cup makes all the difference.
During our last trip, I managed to make do with my husband’s black coffee, but this time I prepared my chai for four days. I made a premix and added some extra spices to help prevent catching a cold. We’re heading to the Norwegian mountains, and they can be super cold.
Ingredients:
For 4 days of tea/chai for two people:
8 teaspoons of black tea (I prefer an Indian brand)
6 teaspoons of sugar
8 cardamom pods
8 cm cinnamon stick
2 cloves
25 black peppercorns
2 teaspoons of ginger powder
1 teaspoon of lemongrass
6 teaspoons of milk powder
I mixed all the ingredients.
And put them in my spice grinder,
Blending them into a very fine powder.
Put in a bowl and mixed in the milk powder thoroughly
Then, I filled the mixture in an airtight jar.
Before travelling, I made a trial cup, It is like this.
I boiled 1 cup of water.
I added 1 teaspoon of the premix for this small cup.
To enhance the spice taste, boiled it for 1 minute, switched off the heat, and strained the mixture using a fine mesh strainer.
The taste is perfect, but extra strong for cold weather.
And the Chai premix was useful some days on our travels.
Thank you very much
