How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. This time, I'm back to participating in Cinnamon Cup Coffee to share my interesting stories and experiences about coffee and coffee shops. There are many stories and my experiences about a cup of coffee or when I sit in a coffee shop. Like a funny story that I will share this time.
Last Monday afternoon, my wife asked me to take me to the badminton court. He has plans to play badminton with his old friend. When I checked the distance from the badminton court to our house, it turned out to be a very long distance, around 8 km and it took about 30 minutes to drive by car.
My wife and her friend are planning to play badminton for an hour. I try to think logically and mathematically, if I have to take my wife and go back home. That is, it took me about 60 minutes, and it seemed like when I got home. My wife will already call asking to be picked up again. I thought, to just wait while looking for a cafe or coffee shop.
The schedule for playing badminton is at 4 in the afternoon, and we have departed 30 minutes before the set schedule. I also have plans to deliver packages of palm sugar to coffee shops in Dumai City, Riau. Because it's one-way and one-way, I do both at the same time. Besides that, I've prepared myself to wait at the coffee shop or cafe.
Kopi Konsen Coffee Shop
When I arrived at the badminton court, I saw a local coffee shop with a take and go concept in that area. I thought, after I go deliver this item to the freight forwarder, I'll wait at the coffee shop. I also plan to do a piece or two of writing at the coffee shop while waiting for my wife to finish playing badminton.
Around 16.30 pm, I arrived at the coffee shop. My wife was due to finish her game in about half an hour and it seemed that waiting at the coffee shop would be a wise and appropriate choice. Many people, like me, like to wait in coffee shops. The coffee shop provides the principal things we need. A cup of drink to wait for, fast wifi connection for our devices and sometimes we can chat with the baristas.
The local coffee shop that I visited has a unique name, “Kopi Konsen”, “Konsen” is a word from the Indonesian language which means concentration. Maybe, people who come to this coffee shop after drinking coffee will concentrate more on their lives. This local coffee shop is not too crowded, the room is also small but still comfortable to work and concentrate here.
A Cup of Long Black
I ordered a cup of hot long black for my drink for the afternoon. I don't know why these two coffees chose the name Long Black compared to using Americano which is usually familiar to people. This cup of black coffee is served in a paper cup, to be honest I was really worried this paper cup would leak. Because it looks very improper and also too thin to use a drink this hot.
This cup of Long Black served was too hot for me to drink right away, while waiting for the heat to subside a bit, I turned on my macbook and started surfing the internet. Surfing the internet sometimes makes us lose track of time. At first, we only replied to my messages, so we saw other things and kept me from writing. After a while, I also drank the coffee I ordered slowly.
Hot Long Black from Kopi Konsen Coffee Shop has a standard taste. Not very special and memorable for me, but also not bad and I can still drink it. I once came to a fancy coffee shop, and the taste of the coffee was really bad and I couldn't drink it. At least, a cup of coffee from this coffee shop can give me peace and inspiration to think.
WiFi Password
About 10 minutes, I just realized that my internet quota is running out. I looked and observed whether this coffee shop provides free WiFi. After confirming, I asked the barista of this coffee shop, what is the WiFi password of this coffee shop.
The Barista Kopi Konsen Coffee Shop has a small and thin body, when I asked about the WiFi password, he said to me "enggak tau" or in English means "I don't know". I thought, maybe he's a new barista and doesn't know the WiFi password of this coffee shop.
Because I need internet for work, I tried to borrow WiFi tethering from the barista so that my smartphone is connected to the internet and I can buy internet packages from the application. When I mentioned this to the coffee shop barista, he wrote me something. One small piece of paper said "i don't know" and he said, that was the WiFi password of this coffee shop.
Me and the barista laughed, I think I misunderstood and the barista didn't explain either. After all, why make a WiFi password with ambiguous words like "enggak tau" or "i don't know". Fortunately, I am a patient person and always think positively. Think about it, if the barista gets impatient and emotional visitors, there will definitely be a misunderstanding and maybe there will be a commotion.
After waiting about half an hour at the coffee shop. My wife had finally finished playing badminton and she met me at the coffee shop. We immediately went home, my hot coffee had not run out at that time. When I wanted to take the coffee home, it turned out that this paper cup leaked and the coffee spilled all over the table and floor. What an absurd and funny coffee experience.
