Solong coffee is the name of a well-known coffee shop in the provincial capital of Aceh, in Sumatra, Indonesia. Coffee shops with the name Solong coffee are located in various places, not only in the provincial capital but also in areas far from the capital.
That name, Solong, actually, has nothing to do with "so long". However, the first date this coffee shop appeared to the public was quite "so long" (not an interjection), that is, since 1974. The taste of the coffee served at the Solong coffee shops doesn't seem to have changed since that date because of the coffee plantations where they ordered coffee beans, have certain standards, coupled with the processing of coffee beans which have their own methods to produce a distinctive taste. Not only that, the coffee brewers are also specially trained so as to produce a uniform taste of coffee at any Solong coffee shop and not disappoint customers who are used to the taste of this brand.
This one Solong coffee shop, in terms of location, has an advantage. Because, apart from being in downtown, it is also on the banks of the Aceh river, the main river that flows in Banda Aceh. A location like that of course provides clean and cool air so that it adds to your comfort when enjoying coffee. On hot days, this coffee shop is the go-to destination.
This afternoon I went there, and even though I'm actually a black coffee connoisseur, but at that time, I wanted to enjoy coffee with milk. Coffee mixed with milk has become one of the drinks that can be said to have been a tradition in Aceh for a long time.
The coffee is also brewed in a very traditional way, by placing coarse coffee grounds in a special filter bag and then pouring boiling water inside. The water is collected and poured back into the coffee grounds filter bag for several times before being poured into a glass. You are then free to choose to drink bitter coffee, sweet coffee with sugar, or sweet coffee with milk. Because the method of making coffee uses a special filter bag, it is here called "Kupi Sareing" (meaning: filter coffee).
But at the Solong coffee shop, espresso coffee is also provided to serve quite a lot of enthusiasts.
Apart from coffee and tea, this coffee shop also provides hot and cold chocolate. My son ordered a chocolate latte.
To make the moment of drinking coffee even more fun, various foods and snacks are also provided. Roasted peanuts are already available at the table where we will sit. Various other foods, just order through the waiter.
For myself, coffee is divided in two. One is called working coffee, and that is black coffee with higher levels of caffeine, which the taste I won't bother with foods that dull the taste of coffee, and the other one, relaxing coffee, like this coffee milk. For this relaxing coffee, I can eat anything that provokes my appetite. This is my coffee story, which I think is already pretty "so long" (not an interjection)!
