Rainy Thursday is perfect for coffee blend from Tayao Farms plus Revel Bars from a friend.
About two weeks ago, we bought drip coffee from Tayao Farms at the Impakabsat event in one of the malls here in the city. There were a lot of coffee sold that time but we settled for Tayao Farms. I like events like this for this is one way to #SupportLocal products. Whenever you have the chance, #GoLocal #BuyLocal. This will help small businesses.
There were only three (now two) packets of drip coffee left and I might go buy me some again tomorrow.
Anyway, just to be clear, I am no expert when it comes to coffee. I just like the aroma and comforting taste of it.
It is only now that I am giving a sort of review about this drip coffee.
As what is written in the packaging of this coffee that we bought, It is a coffee blend of premium Atok Arabica and Kalinga Robusta. Atok and Kalinga are different regions here in the Cordilleras.
According to this perkcoffee
Arabica tends to have a smoother, sweeter taste, with flavour notes of chocolate and sugar. They often also have hints of fruits or berries. Robusta, on the other hand, has a stronger, harsher and more bitter taste, with grainy or rubbery overtones.
Upon opening the pack, there is that smell of something burnt like wood, grilled sweet potato, also that rubber like aroma. There could be a hint of sweetness in there. It's really hard to distinguish one particular aroma. However, it is intoxicating and addicting. I couldn't stop myself lol!
Look at those beautiful grounded beans.
The aroma is more intense when you open one of the drip bags. That burnt rubber smell becomes distinct. I can also smell something like a charred sweet potato.
I am using my biggest mug for this.
Back story: This is not really my favorite but it is the one that I use the most. I placed an almost spent tissue roll beside it for comparison.
My friend who sells stuff online had mugs, plates and other wares that she sells. Whenever she goes online, she has these little games that she would go to get the ball rolling so to speak or do it in the middle of her live. I forgot what the question one but I was able to answer it first and this is the price. We have lots of mugs here but they are just the regular sized ones and that is not enough for me. I like bigger ones. We need more than just a regular-sized mug for coffee, right? :D
Pouring hot water to the coffee, the smell of burnt wood and rubber is unmistakable and that is also the overall taste that I get from this coffee blend. I think the Kalinga Robusta is overpowering the Atok Arabica.
A couple of days ago, my former boss' daughter messaged me if I would be interested to order from her revel bars. Would I be interested? Of course! Right away, I ordered two boxes lol!
Each box contains eight pieces, two pieces of four different flavors namely chocolate, matcha, blueberry and strawberry. I asked her if she has a substitute for the strawberry for I am not fond of that. Unfortunately, she doesn't have. However, I still ordered. My partner ate all the strawberry flavored ones lol!
Revel bars are upgraded oatmeal bars with nuts and different flavors.
I like the different texture that you get with every bite. There's crunchiness and chewiness and soft and smooth. What I like about her baked goodies is that they are not that sweet, just the right amount of sweetness that make you crave for more.
My favorite so far is the matcha flavor. It is not as strong in taste as the rest.
I don't add anything else to my coffee. No creamer. No milk. No sugar. However, I do like eating something with it and the revel bars are just perfect. Coffee goes well with almost if not everything.
So there goes my coffee time this rainy Thursday - coffee blend plus revel bars. Rainy days are just another excuse for coffee.
