Many say that no one can live alone when the time comes; we will need someone by our side. Aside from our family or romantic partner, friends were always there for the rescue. We may have different attitudes, but we usually meet someone who can handle who we are and become our friend(s). I may not be the friendly type but not a brat. I am okay with going with anyone; I can adjust and blend in whatever kind of crowd. Also not a chatty type, but if you need my help, count me in, I am just one call away, but not financial, please🤣.
One fine evening while I was enjoying procrastinating in my bed as I was on vacation, I received a chat from my former workmate. We have known each other since we were both assigned to Store branches until we were transferred to the main office. Thus, she filed a resignation last year as she is now focused on freelancing as a virtual assistant. She is earning better, plus she is not tied to a 9-6 day job. It happened she would be visiting her sister in Iloilo, and since I needed to cross the sea in less than 20 minutes, she obliged me to meet her. I was also getting bored at home, so I accepted the invitation.
As the next day, even though it was a little bit rainy, I still pursued our plan.
There were small droplets of rain falling (can you see it? ) as I was waiting for the ferry, the source of transportation going to Iloilo. By the way, that's the other side of the Warehouse of Guimaras Bulk Sugar Installation that I mentioned before when I traveled back home. . While waiting, I looked around, hoping to see some familiar faces, perhaps a colleague but see None. It took a few minutes, and the sky was getting darker before the ferry arrived.
As expected, since the weather was not that fine, the sea was rough, and the waves were more extensive than usual. There are instances when the ferry tilts and feels like it would sink! Some passengers were scared and shouting as they couldn't contain their emotions, but I was silently laughing. Naaa, I missed this feeling. I enjoyed the ride, though.
I arrived at our meeting place, which is Robinson's Iloilo. It was almost lunch time so we decided to eat at the famous Barbeque fast food chain in the Philippines; Mang Inasal. The founder was in Ilonggo, and the first store was here in Iloilo.
This fast food was already spacious but always full of customers, especially at lunchtime. Aside from it sells affordable barbeque, it is well known because of Unlimited rice. Yes! You read it right; you can even have ten cups of rice. As for me? I only stick to one cup. I am no longer in my teens, and I can eat as many as I want as it burns fast. Still, I got a satisfied stomach.
We were supposed to order halo-halo for dessert, but we forgot to place an order earlier, so we just decided to move to Starbucks. My friend was a coffee addict, and I often teased her that it was already mixed in her blood. I also drink coffee and could not live a day without it, but I limit myself to one cup a day. Usually in the morning as I eat breakfast.
As we entered the shop, our nostrils were filled with the addictive aroma of caffeine.
Beans and several packs were displayed near the entrance, giving a therapeutic scent for those coffee addicts. I just ordered a frapped while my friend, Americano, had an extra espresso shot.
I forgot to mention, but one of our former workmates also tagged along for a coffee date as she was near the vicinity. We also bought some cake for a dessert.
See how strong her coffee is? Curiosity got me, so I took a sip. Hahaha, it so strong that I palpitate after a while. Us? Just contented with a frappe. These is already enough to make me wide awake until midnight.
I can say, coffee date is one of the best idea in spending time with a friend. Talking everything under the sun, catching up for those times.
Thanks for dropping by.
