Daheim is a recent co-working space that comes into my radar. At first, I did not know that it’s actually a coworking space. It had my attention because of grabfood. The place serves German cuisine which I happen to enjoy lately. So, I have been ordering the food in that place for quite some time. I only had the chance to explore it more when I was at another co-working space that has a pamphlet of cafes and co-working spaces in town. From that pamphlet, I came to know the inside of this cafe which got me interested in visiting it.
Since on Sunday the regular place that I used to go closed, I needed to find a place where I can start working and get a cup of coffee. I decided to go to this place without zero expectations. Knowing that I love their food at least I won’t feel dissapointed. So apparently based on the pamphlet I read, daheim is a German inspired cafe and as the name suggests,Daheim means Home. So, the concept of this cafe is making you feel like you’re staying in a German house.
On the front entrance, there is a sign of Daheim and some words under it that says “ kaffee, kollab. Kultur” under some wooden round window that will take us to experience the traditional German house. Even from that sign, one can expect the kind of place that you are entering. This place was also relatively empty when I went there. I honestly expected the place to be more packed with people spending their weekend here. But it was the other way round.
Inside the place, most of the furniture is from wood and is decorated with a wood theme, just like a traditional German house would. Daheim is quite massive with many parts that have its own aesthetic. The main one has some chairs with minimalist decor and also a barn looking chamber where visitors can sit. Another side has some murals, some wallpapers and some artwork hanging on the wall. Another has some German houses aesthetic.
Prior to visiting this place, I checked that they have an individual room. I am more than excited because that means I get to work peacefully and get my own dedicated space. But when I reached the counter, the cashier was not quite friendly for the standard of the cafe here which usually has a friendly staff. I tried to ask about the individual room and the cashier was reluctant to explain more. It was not clear at all, which made me quite confused. But anyhow, I paid what was needed to get me into a room where it was meant to do the co-working space. Though now, looking at it from a cultural perspective, that seems to be something I expected from a German themed cafe.
The co-working space room in this place is named after cities in Germany. For example, I got into the Dresden room where there are some chairs. I don’t think it was meant for a single remote worker but since nobody was there, the place was all mine. It felt like I was working from home in a cozier space with no distraction, just my laptop and things I was working on. I never use the wifi in co-working as I don’t want my information to get compromised easily. So, I always bring my own portable wifi. Hence why, I can’t tell if their wifi is fast or not for remote working. Generally, wifi in places like this is quite fast because they subscribe to fiber optics. Except if it’s really popular then expect some hiccups here and there.
After settling down, the food I ordered came. I also ordered coffee but the coffee here isn’t anything special. It is just a standard cafe coffee that I can just drink while working on things. But the food in this place is one of a kind. I like the taste, the portion, and the plating that matches my preference. I ordered one of their specialities and something that I often have, Jägerschnitzel. Then for dinner, I ordered their pesto basil fusilli.
The coffee itself was an okay one. I ordered a hazelnut latte and I was quite satisfied with it. Obviously, it doesn’t taste as good as the one from Starbucks but people can get by just drinking their coffee.
Each meal on the menu I tasted was delicious. I like how they cook it because they are not attempting to make the taste like an Indonesian would. It was slightly more authentic and well-seasoned. I really have no complaints about their food. When you order pasta in this place, you also get a slice of garlic bread which I have rarely found anywhere in town. It was also garlicky just the way I like it.
Since the place is quite far from where I live, I decided to get back early. But before going back, I made an attempt to explore more spots in this place. I explored it from one side to another and tried to capture some pictures that you all can see below.
Considering the amenities, the food, and the menu in this place, including the coffee. This place is a great place to work from. It saves time when it comes to picking food while also increasing productivity and getting more things done as opposed to working from home. Sometimes, it’s the price we pay or rather I pay to be more productive, inspired, and getting things off my list.
