It’s safe to say that Excelso Robusta Gold was one of the early few coffees I reviewed. And it has been three years since the last time I actually had coffee from this brand, Exelso. These days, I am mostly more into fresh beans from Starbucks and into exploring exotic beans that I didn’t get to try in the past. But since I was recently settling in again at my place, I forgot to bring my Starbucks with me and had to do a quick run to the grocery store. I mean, I can’t wake up without coffee. There are only a few gourmet coffee brands at the store near my place. So, I ended up getting Excelso, a premium product from Kapal Api. They also have a few stores around and even sell fresh coffee beans that you can grind at home. Since I haven’t replaced my grinder, I opt for ground coffee. There were a few options at the store but I remember liking Robusta Gold more than the others, so I went with it.

The coffee has this amazing taste of nutty and cacao finish that I really enjoy. The method that I am using is basically with a coffee maker from Miniso. It produces a strong, nice cup of coffee that makes my eyes light up. Now, I only have my french press and my coffee maker. So, it’s time for more intense flavored coffee than a light filtered coffee like I normally have back home. The only thing that bothers me about this coffee maker is that it only produces a small amount of coffee. Hence, I always have to clean them and it takes a while to make another cup. But it’s worth it and it’s getting me off the chair to move and make another coffee.

Budget-Friendly Cup

In the past I reviewed the 200gr from this brand but now I am only getting the 100gr. It costs half of the price and I was satisfied with it because in the end, once it’s finished I’ll go back to Starbucks and find new beans to try. This coffee brand is great if you’re on a budget as it’s less than $2 to get a 100 gr of ground coffee.

If you’re saving money as well, I definitely recommend this especially if you’re into something more gourmet but won’t be paying more than $5 for it. They are also finely ground which makes it perfect for coffee maker, espresso machine or french press.

It’s quite a treat to be able to taste a slightly more full bodied coffee and thicker ones compared to the v60 that I often have and is often pretty light. It sure is getting me through the day and motivates me to write, do something and think. In the past, I could feel jittery from drinking too much coffee but now, I am sort of desensitized and feeling fine despite the amount of cups I have.

In another note relating to my coffee post, I am going to only do that 3 times a month. It’s because I want to keep it a lot more organized and rekindle my amazement with coffee and its world. I feel like the more I rush into it, the more I lose the charm and feel like everything looks pretty much the same. But that’s not the case at all.
