And now is the time for another beautiful cup of coffee.
About 2 weeks ago, a new delivery of freshly baked coffee beans came in my home and now is the time to share with you another tasty cup.
The coffee, this time too, is Ethiopia Guji Odo Shekiso with nice aromas of kiwi, watermelon and red berries. The difference this time is that I did not prepare my coffee on the V60, but on my espresso machine. It’s actually, in my opinion, not a real espresso machine, because it’s of the cheaper coffee brewing machines and the coffee properties are far from the perfect espresso ones.
Being a Delonghi Dedica, it has a pressurized portafilter and brews even coarser grinds relatively well. And it cannot really brew espresso fine grinds, because it easily manages to choke and nothing comes out from the portafilter. But really, for the money it costs, it does a pretty nice job. And it’s absolutely portable and does not take much room in my kitchen. If I go with a bulkier machine, I’ll have to think of a new place to put my coffee stuff in.
And here’s the coffee in the portafilter. I really try not to tamper the coffee too much, again in order to prevent choking the brewer. Still, I try my best to distribute the coffee evenly in the basket. Thus, the chance of channeling in the coffee bed will be reduced. Time to put the portafilter and lock it in the machine and the only thing that’s left is to push the button. This brewer has a pre-programmed length of the shots, which is not ideal, but works pretty good, if you are not too concerned about espresso “science”.
A very important touch is to keep the water in the brewer fresh, because the taste of the coffee in the cup is primely affected by the qualities of the water. And because we don’t drink so many shots in our household (only me and my wife... and some guests from time to time, but rarely...) it’s very important to put fresh water in the water tank every single day.
Finally, it’s time to enjoy this shot... I really am in love with such kind of coffee cups, with double glass. I can see the shot in all its glory. After all, a human being eats and drinks in first place with his eyes, and then with its mouth, so excellence in the outlook is very important. It can make your experience great, and it can ruin everything pretty easily.
So, have a nice day and have a nice cup of coffee. See you again, pretty soon!
