Hello, today I would like to start a new content session on my blog, which I am going to call "imitation industrial products". I can't say that I'm going to be bringing it every week, although I will try to do it as often as I can 😊
I also say that I am not always going to do it well, the idea is to improvise a little and improve as I go along, learning from mistakes, let's say. This is because I usually experiment a lot at home and I don't usually post any of those attempts (failed or not), so it's also a way to show my creative and learning process, I hope you like it 😊
I will start with this, some cookies that I tried a while ago and that I honestly loved. It is a biscuit with a mocha flavor (coffee and chocolate) and that has a milk-based cream inside and also a coffee flavor. The truth is very very rich, if you are from Venezuela and you see them in your supermarket, do not hesitate to buy a package 😊
Now, analyzing the ingredients a bit, I can see that removing the excessive amount of preservatives and additives, the ingredients are quite simple, flour, sugar, chocolate... I think I can do it, although the color already says that I won't get it, since one of the ingredients is: Caramel color. God knows what that's made of, but it's aesthetic, so we'll ignore it for now.
Being an experiment, I wasn't going to make large batches, so I handled everything by the spoonful and added whatever ingredients I could recognize on the package. The ingredients are:
- 1 spoon of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 a pittance of salt (less than a pinch)
- 1 nut of vegetable margarine
- 3 drops of vanilla essence
And I simply added everything without any order to a container, in my case a sauce boat that later will help me place the mixture in the molds.
And no, I have not forgotten the coffee, but I am going to add it little by little until I get a consistency like the one you see in the image. I can't say a specific amount, because I don't know, although I'll leave you a gif so you can guide you better 😊
By the way, I mixed it with the same spoon, so it's normal that I have a little lumps left. Obviously for large proportions, we use an electric mixer and beat until we can't.
As I said, the sauce boat will help me place it in the molds, since it is like a small jar. I am using cookie molds, they must be metal, because you have to leave them in the pan for a few minutes.
Why don't I use the oven? Well, because I'm not going to turn on the oven and preheat it for half an hour, just to put 3 cookies. So I use a greased pan with a little oil and it will give me an idea of how they would look in the oven, although I already told you that for the oven, I will have to make a dough and not a cream 🤔
And yes, I ate what was left in the sauceboat too, we all do it, only nobody shows it 😂
(It has a very smooth and delicate flavor, the coffee does not provide a great flavor, although it does have a lot of aroma, it is perfect! )
THEY INFLATED! 😱
I didn't expect that, although I know what happened. Being a very wet mixture, bubbles were produced that tried to come out and that is why it happened. I tried to fix this by flipping them over and poking the tops with a fork, but that didn't work. Since I don't have a rack, I used a slotted spoon to let them cool.
Summary: I got the flavor and in part the texture, because they were very crispy on the outside and very importantly too, I didn't use any product whose name you don't know how to pronounce 😂
I learned that I should make a dough and not a mixture and that the mixture is an excellent recipe for a coffee brownie, it has a wonderful flavor, creamy from the chocolate and very aromatic from the coffee.
I would do it again? Without a doubt, it is a super easy recipe, with very noble ingredients and that can be modified for many variants. Brownies, cookies, cupcakes, crepes... the sky is the limit!
And if you're wondering how I removed the molds from the pan, well... I'll just tell you that it was hot 😂
