When the company you keep has the same mindset as yours, it can either be a blessing, or a curse; of course, it depends on the type of mindset you harbor. Fortunately, my friends and acquaintances bring out the most helpful and positive ideas in the worst situations.
Me and my friend you see down here, we were supposed attend an event. Sadly, we got the date wrong, the event was supposed to be hosted the day after. Now we were out here in this empty area, no sign of an event and no people in sight. We both were all set to tackle the day, ready to enjoy and experience this event, but we messed up the dates lol.
After coming this far, all prepped, it surely was a let down.
Fortunately, Jamuna Future Park was close by and Tabaq has a branch there.
We were also planning to meet for a little discussion about a new start-up idea. So, we decided to put this day to good use, at least try to have a productive outcome.
It was around 4PM and we were on our way to the mall. After reaching JFP we got to the top floor and started searching for Tabaq. Luckily, I knew my way around these parts of the mall. Funny thing is, I've never visited this branch, even though it's quite an old branch. It's probably their second branch; the exact one that helped bring it on every coffee lovers radar. This branch lead them towards their success, helping them climb the ladder; toppling every other coffee shop in the country. Now you'll find them in every part of the city. They probably have 6 branches in total right now, and that's just in Dhaka.
So, we headed inside and ordered the usual, and some of you already know what that is I guess, it's my favorite, a cappuccino; for two this time.
As we waited for our coffee, we messaged a friend of ours who's now in the UK. He is also a part of this start-up, actually he's the one who came up with this bright idea. Yet, since he isn't in the country anymore, joining us in person wasn't an option. I say these meetings are done way more efficiently in person, but a "digital meeting" would have to do for now.
After just a few minutes he did join us on a voice call, as you can see above. We couldn't really share much, but we shared some ideas and how we plan on starting. The real meeting between the three of us was done on Discord, later that night.
This branch is a bit different in terms of décor, compared to the other branches of Tabaq. A yellow and orange theme in Tabaq? That's a first for me. Usually the theme is in grey and burgundy.
Also, having access to a small shelf full of books to choose from, it's a nice touch I'd say. Cafes in Dhaka don't really offer books to read, it's not as common here.
After that short and sweet meeting of ours, we were on our way back home. I say the day really didn't go to waste, at least we got rid of that long-awaited meeting of ours. Yes, we would still have to come back the next day, but I was just glad that we got something done after covering the distance and coming this far.
Besides, a day can never be squandered, when a cup of coffee from Tabaq is involved haha.
Cheers ☕️
