Hello there coffee lovers! Am back! What's the flavor for today? It's a beautiful day so I went to the coffee shop to have my favorite brewed coffee.
Though I have my own ground coffee at home, I still find it awesome to go to this place and smell the aroma while the coffee is being prepared manually.
The Traditional Way of Mixing
It is done using a big pouch made of flour sack cloth. The ground coffee is placed in there say, about 2 tablespoonfuls good for two or more depending on how strong they'd like their coffee to be. The men liked it stronger and without sugar. I have also observed that they have a habit of drinking coffee while smoking. It sounds weird eh? LoL! To satisfy my curiosity, I asked my carpenter when he was having a coffee break as to why they won't have 'pandesal' or bread to pair with their coffee and he said they feel relaxed with this convo! Hmmm so that's the reason behind it.:)
This is how they serve you. They place the spoon on top and it will be up to you on how to balance the sweetness of your coffee. They place two jars of sugar, one of which is white and the other is brown. I prefer the latter because they say that it contains less cholesterol.

Some sweets are placed on the table where you can choose from.
The rest are placed inside the cabinet as refills. Expect that all those are sold in the afternoon! They allow others to drop their sweets early in the morning while it's hot especially the budbud and Biko made from glutinous rice and the rice cake called puto.

They sell coffee beans which is of Robusta variety. Others buy the beans only which is cheaper and they do the toasting especially in the farm. You can buy the ground coffee at affordable price. A kilo will run for weeks instead of using the 3-in-1 sachet. Of course, it's a matter of choice. I may drink the ones in sachet if I wanted to drink coffee at night. Drinking pure brewed coffee will tend to deprive you from sleep. Therefore, brewed coffee is best when taken in the morning and afternoon at around 3pm because it will keep you energized!.
