So, I went out for my Dads final journey, to Triveni Sangam. It was last process to free humans from this birth cycle. It involves the Immersion of ashes to sacred river. And Triveni Sangam is one of the scared river in India, where three rivers confluence. Triveni Sangam is the confluence of three rivers that is also a sacred place. In Hindu tradition, it is assumed that by taking a bath at this holy river, humans will flush away all of one's sins and free one from the cycle of rebirth.
I took the ashes and went there via train for the final funeral process. The confluence of three is in in middle of the vast river area, and the only way to reach there is by a boat. These boats man charge little charges for taking the visitor to the sangam point.
These boatsman do all the hardwork, and they take 3-4 such trips to the point of confluence, which is well over 1km from banks area.
There were many such boats were available. We can find many overturned boats, which says that they were actively doing their job since ages.
It took lot of effort to make such trip every now and then in this hot weather, where the temperature is soaring at 41° and more. But these man seems very active physically fit to u derrake such long trip. Once you were on boat, you may a little bit of drop of temperature because of water all over the place.
At sangam point, you may experince a different little city in middle of water body. Many such small boats can be seen at the junction where the three river meets. People get down at the poi t do all the rituals and immerse the ashes right in middle of the river. This is last respect one can give to the departed soul.
My trip went well, with all the rituals done properly, but the only issue was the hot temperature that took toll on my body. Now we have other rituals to perform for next 12 days. And hope it goes well.
