You know what’s fun about spring in Belgium?
Absolutely nothing, until you look up and realize Mother Nature hit “refresh” and everything goes full Disney mode.
This past week, the weather was basically going through a midlife crisis. One minute it’s sunshine and birds tweeting like influencers trying to stay relevant. Next minute, it’s gray skies and rain like nature just got dumped. Again. She does this every single year!

But hey! Plot twist! It’s actually great news.
Because guess what? Plants need rain too. Shocking, I know. Back in my day, we just called it “weather” and moved on without tweeting about it, but here we are. Anyway, as the skies cried a little, the trees smiled back, and BOOM. Spring showed up like it owned the place.
So, there we were, halfway through the weekend. No plans, no schedule, just vibes. And honestly? That’s when the best stuff happens. The kind of stuff you remember. The kind of stuff you don’t post about until three days later with a slightly filtered photo and a caption that says “spontaneous days are the best 💕” but we both know you spent 15 minutes picking the font. And I didn't wait three days this time.

Anyway. Japanese Garden in Hasselt. You want to see nature flexing on winter? That’s the place. Cherry blossoms doing their soft pink magic, petals falling like confetti after a spiritual rave. Water trickling through tiny canals like nature’s ASMR. Like they're actually using one of those relaxation & alpha wave apps! Trees doing their best “I just woke up and I’m fabulous” pose. It was visual therapy.

And yeah… another matcha latte happened. Don’t judge. It was either that or another existential crisis about NFTs, and frankly, the matcha won. For now. There's no matcha in the neighborhood tomorrow though. Be warned!

Here’s what this day reminded me of, and maybe it’ll land with you too:
Sometimes, you’ve just gotta go. No plan, no perfect weather, no algorithm-approved moment. Just you, your people, and the world doing its thing. Because the most memorable stuff? It's rarely scheduled. It’s rarely Instagram-perfect. It’s the raw, unfiltered, messy, matcha-sipping magic of now.

So get out there. Touch some grass. Watch a blossom fall. Sip something green. Be present. And for the love of Gen X, put your phone down long enough to actually see it.
Then yeah, sure, take a photo. Post it. Caption it with something deep. But know the real magic? That happened before you hit “share.”
Now don't you forget that!
