In August I was able to get really close to an european hare that was eating some grass in the Park. I was lying on the ground and waiting for some birds that where also nearby looking for some food near a small bush when the hare came closer and closer. When It heard my Camera Shutter it stopped and started going the other direction but not until I had some nice closeup pictures of it. I was a bit shocked when I suddenly saw it this close I have to admit but happy in the end. 😀
Since the People are more and more invading the animals space some of them adapt and start living with the humans in closer relationship. Such Urban wildlife pictures are usually a little bit easier to get since the fleeing distance of the animals is much closer. Of course it also helps when you lay flat on the ground and you are not that of a threat to an animal like this hare.

Then I also find it very interesting to watch how much trust such animals can develop and how careful others are in comparison. Even though we humans are probably their most dangerous predator. But when they find out we are not doing them any harm for a longer time they gain trust pretty fast. And this fact helps me a lot in urban wildlife photography since a lot of animals like these hares are used to us humans and it is a lot easier to get close to them for some nice pictures. Otherwise pictures like this would probably be only possible from a hide or something.
